0.000% of Communism has been built. Evil child-murdering billionaires still rule the world with a shit-eating grin. All they've managed to do is make themselves sad.
I'm not saying balkanization is imminent or ideal but I have said and will continue saying that if you reduce to federal government only to be an instrument of cruelty and violence somebody some day is gonna posit the question of why we're even doing this at all.
ICE is running a “conveyor belt” of illegally detained Minnesota families.

Agents are arresting entire families with legal status and immediately shipping them off to Texas to deny them legal representation and avoid the federal courts in Minnesota.

The cruelty is endless.

I will leave aside drawing the direct line from Anwar Awlaki to Renee and Alex and say: if you were outside of one a handful of major cities or tech hubs, the economics of the Obama years were fucking AWFUL. The 2008 recession went on for a decade in the rust belt. Remember the "jobless recovery?"
I mean yeah. Look at the lifetime of your average millennial:

Reagan: Ugh
Bush Sr: More of the same
Clinton: Meh
Bush Jr: Lots of bad
Obama: OK this is good
Trump I: Fuck
Biden: There were SOME good things here
Trump II: Fuckity fuck fuck fuck
obama was probably the best president of our lifetime and biden the second

which honestly says something about the current bar

Elected Democrats are either Nazi collaborators or in a severe state of denial. I wish they'd be clearer about which.

Worth giving this a look if you're like me and are a USian that's fucking sick of the likes of Microsoft and Google, too
Silicon Valley’s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we can’t depend on US tech companies.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!
Getting off US tech: a guide
I’m in the process of dropping US tech services. Here’s how I did it, and options you should consider.

Go to Chipotle or Panera and it's 50% more expensive and much worse quality than it was 6 years ago. Go to McDonald's and it's like 30% more expensive but roughly the same quality vs 6 years ago. Worrisome yeah but I think the complete enshittification of fast casual is a big part of this
Not sure what’s more worrisome: that McDonalds low-income consumer traffic is down double digits — or that high-income consumer traffic is UP double digits.

Top *eight* articles on NYT devoted to Charlie Kirk, top one asks if he will be remembered like MLK. This is a man who only a tiny percent of Americans had even heard of before his death, whose views are too nasty for NYT to detail. But they are trying so hard to turn into martyr.

Kirk’s last words on this planet earth were a bad faith deflection blaming gun violence on black people, which makes this especially insincere
The best way to honor Charlie's memory is to continue his work: engage with each other, across ideology, through spirited discourse. In a democracy, ideas are tested through words and good-faith debate — never through violence.

Something I've been saying for a while is that if you keep smashing the button that says "the federal government is only here to hurt you" hard enough and long enough at some point people are going to start wondering why that button exists at all.

One of those things I learned from union organizing was that a lot of people will agree with you that shit's fucked and it shouldn't be like this but at the end of the fundamentally didn't believe that anything better was possible.
