In the 1990s, we in the Midwest organized against the KKK's attempts at growth. They officially gave up after too many counter-protestors met them every time. At one of their surrender press conferences, they even cited our work, misnaming us the "Midwest Network To Kill the Klan." Antifa works.

Also Poland in 1980! The Solidarity movement started with a shipyard strike that expanded to a general strike throughout the country. The communists were forced to sit down and negotiate.

Belgium 1950, general strike originated over opposition to King Leopold III of Belgium being returned to throne after his refusal to leave Belgium with the government-in-exile during the Nazi occupation; ended with his agreement to abdicate and allow his son Baudouin to take the throne.

In the Winnipeg General Strike of 1919, for 6 weeks, 30,000 strikers shut down the city. There were short-term losses but longer term built the labor movement & the tradition of social democratic politics in Canada.
