I saw some folks thinking that voice acting in games was objectively good, always a positive. "What kind of game doesn't have voice acting in 2025?!" sorta thing

I say that there are positive reasons why one would choose NOT to have VO.

has anyone pointed out how much nicer it is for user content? morrowind modding has such a lower bar to entry for stuff that fits in perfectly with the original game because of the lack of voice acting.

my favourite bit is how they seemingly refuse to balance it to be fun to play. your only options are just trivially easy or everything has 10,000 health. and it can still be fun even on the stupid bulletsponge difficulty!
but why god why isn't there a difficulty just designed to be fun.

i do think a lot of modern design removes or negates the need to actually engage with games, so in some sense i'm not surprised. but for people playing thief FMs? you'd really think their expectations would be adjusted more appropriately!

I develop adult video games on Steam. I can't find a bank that will actually let me withdraw my money from Steam. Can I get some advice?
Game has sold quite well on Steam. I've got almost £90,000 ready to withdraw after Steam's cut + VAT taken off.

However, it's been 2 months now and I can't find ANY bank in the UK who will let me withdraw my money from Steam.

I've been banned/refused/unable to get a business account with:

Wise
Revolut
Monzo
Monese
Chase
Starling
Nationwide
Halifax
Barclays
Lloyds
RBS

It always comes down to, "Where did you get this money from?"

"It's coming from games I sell on Steam."

"Can we see the store page?"

"Sure."

"I'm sorry, we can't do business with you at this time."

It keeps coming down to a commercial decision purely because I make adult content.

What the hell am I supposed to do? I've pretty much exhausted the whole banking system. I just want to be able to be paid for products I've sold.

The store description here is hugely out of date. GTFO is fully complete now, enormous and EXTREMELY hardcore. But if you can get a serious crew of four together, it's an amazing survival horror ride.

It also has a surprisingly active mod scene with hundreds more *even harder* missions to play.

Thinking about Difficulty more because I was popping off about it on stream tonight, but I keep going back and thinking to how people give like.. intro reading/watching/listening lists for subjects that are dense and hard to get into, so people can build literacy in various mediums and genres.
