all of these people need to go to prison and most of them need to die there
> they were “identified terrorist targets”
>> neat, you don’t have an AUMF
>> even if there were one, they were SHIPWRECKED and hors de combat

> we were actually targeting *the cocaine*
>> by your own admission IT WAS NOT HEADED TO THE UNITED STATES
So “the shipments directly threaten Americans” huh? The shipments were headed to the U.S. then?

Oh. Okay.

If you've ever been to a naturalization ceremony, you know they're filled with people whose palpable love of this country is twenty times stronger than the pinched "patriotism" of any native-born MAGA chud.

Just unspeakable assholery.

this and dividing DC into a bazillion states
I had an enlightening conversation with a very smart lawyer friend recently about court reform, and he made a persuasive case for simple court expansion because it's the only plan that gets you the requisite change that's also completely, unquestionably constitutional.
I'm going to keep saying this in my effort to speak it into reality: Supreme Court should have at least 100 Justices with rotating panels (and maybe an en banc option). No single Justice should have so much power and they shouldn't be names everyone knows.

I'd also note they already invalidated Section 3 that says that you can't hold federal office if you engaged in insurrection against the United States. These are not judges impartially applying the law. They are racist despots who despise American progress. (3/3)

People say FIFA disgraced itself by having that little Trump ceremony. Habibi, it’s FIFA. People died building the Qatari stadium for the last World Cup and it held the World Cup in Russia before that.

If you have a trifecta and you want to build a New Republic, then just pack the Union with 127 states of DC. If you're willing to stack the court with enough judges to make Roberts et al into a 15-6 minority, then why not add 254 more Democratic senators?

How is the Supreme Court's federalist society set's interpretation of the Presidential Power effectively any different than the old German Leader Principle -- Führerprinzip?

If POTUS can make legislation, spend or not spend money, murder people on the high seas, etc, why have a legislature?

The right has a mission-driven, goal-oriented, organized pipeline for electeds, like a better-structured MLB system but starting from T-ball, across educational, advocacy, and corporate institutions.

The left is like a beer league, with everyone out for themselves, and whoever shows up, plays.
Real q: why are modern American progressives so bad at building coalitions? The right wing is this ideologically incoherent hodge-podge of unrelated or even oppositional causes, yet they manage to work as a bloc. By contrast, liberals + leftists spend a huge amount of energy fighting w each other.

Dividing DC up into a bijillion states is the moderate position. That's how we nuke the GOP out of the picture, create a new system that actually represents the people, and then we think about allowing them back in.
We're in an inter-constitutional moment not dissimilar to the Civil War period where we have to write a new constitution via constitutional convention or achieve a position whereby we overhaul the existing one (only possible in a post-Civil War type situation where the GOP is out of the picture).
