at some point we're gonna have to have a real conversation about why we're still paying federal taxes to a regime that isn't using them to help anyone, but instead is using them to brutalize us

Could you imagine if a Biden WH CEA doc was leaked talking about how it's fine if red state economies were doing bad, it'd nailed to the desk of every right wing talk show for a decade
I kind of think the most revealing thing about Trump and his advisors’ view of the economy are the (false) “it’s fine, the economy is doing well in red states” lines from the CEA report that he posted on Truth Social

Agents rappelled from a Black Hawk helicopter in a massive show of force.

Authorities said Tren de Aragua “terrorists” had taken over the building.

But after the cameras were gone, federal prosecutors did not charge anyone.

“I Lost Everything”: Venezuelans Were Rounded Up in a Dramatic Midnight Raid but Never Charged With a Crime
Authorities said Tren de Aragua “terrorists” had taken over the building. A ProPublica investigation found little evidence to back up the government’s claims. For the first time, the Venezuelans arres...

US Border Agents Intentionally Stepped in Front of Moving Vehicles to Justify Shooting at Them
An internal review of the US Border Patrol raises serious questions about the agency’s use-of-force policy.

One of my old professors told us about how he and other political communication scholars had gotten hyped about satellite imagery + global cable news making it nearly impossible for genocides to happen without intervention, only to see that hypothesis fail in real time. A humbling experience.

there is no positive route forward for the United States without mass arrests and trials for DHS employees
You and your wife drop your 6-year-old off at school. You just moved here. You see ICE terrorizing your new neighbors. You film them, as is your legal right. Your wife complies with orders. She is then shot in the head. You still have to pick up your child later today.

This could be you.

These cities and their amazing citizens will not put up with Trump's fascism much longer.

We evacuated our kids out of Minneapolis this weekend and my spouse reports that as she drove them out of town she saw "multiple freeway exits where people are being pulled over." It feels like the Twin Cities is being subjugated by a hostile occupying force.

DHS has again tweeted literal nazi propaganda. "We Will Have Our Home Again" is a popular slogan used regularly within the white nationalist sphere, based on a song of the same title. In Portland 2022, now-defunct nazi group RCN hung a banner with the phrase. Antifascists repainted it the same day.

In all seriousness, when Daniel Perry shot and killed Garret Foster in Austin in 2020, we figured out who Perry was and we were watching his social media posts get deleted in real time WHILE he was allegedly in APD's custody. Fortunately we archived them in the Wayback Machine before he did it.
