Good literary translation requires understanding (language, culture, genre--on both sides of the translation) and an ability to write well. "AI" can't do that. There are no shortcuts. Treat your work and foreign language readers with the respect they deserve. You won't fool anyone with this.

I may have had a crummy start to the week, but we got so much good election news yesterday, I got a big payroll issue resolved, and Goober hasn't pooped on the floor in days, so things are looking up

you can win unapologetically standing with every persecuted minority pundits say are too politically toxic to touch
we could do everything about this process differently if we wanted to

Can’t stop thinking about all the robber baron fucks that held secret meetings and spent MILLIONS AND MILLIONS in bribes and campaign investments and attack ads and media manipulation trying to tank Mamdani currently having the dawning realization that their money is completely and utterly useless.

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro says 'I'd rather die' than use generative AI
Del Toro's new Frankenstein adaption reimagines Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel. Frankenstein was like a tech bro: "creating something without considering the consequences," he explains.

Current book I'm reading I keep thinking it has to be a YA book with how much it handholds the reader . And how flimsy the characterization of the main character seems

this book is turning out to be more of a book about like. breaking up. and not really horror at all. I'm extremely disappointed.
You ever read a book you thought was gonna be horror but partway through you start to realize it's only gonna be horror in the allegory sense and not in the "scary things are happening" sense

I'm determined to watch more Keralis next season. I've been watching his arctic base eps lately and it's so sad I'm only starting now at the tail end of s10

I've been rewatching Stargate: SG-1 recently and it's been so much fun. I love Stargate. Great show. A zillion episodes. Absolutely baffling logic sometimes. Also MacGyver is there.

Every autumn, I think maybe this year the local coffee shop will actually make a good pumpkin spice latte.
Every autumn I am disappointed.
I need to stop being surprised at this point
