I think we can safely say that the Leavitt's brother called ICE on his ex, the mother of his child, and I have to say: I have no desire to respect, find common ground or share the country with these monsters.
“After Ferreira was detained, Dos Santos Rodrigues said Michael Leavitt Sr. and his father, Bob Leavitt, reached out to her.”

“‘They just kept saying, ‘Tell her to self-deport,’” she recalled. “Self-deport to where? Brazil is not her home.’” www.bostonglobe.com/2025/11/26/m...
‘Brazil is not her home.’ Mother of Karoline Leavitt’s nephew, brought to US as child, detained by ICE. - The Boston Globe
Bruna Ferreira, 33, was brought to the United States as a child in 1998. She is now in removal proceedings in Louisiana.

There is NO FUCKING EXCUSE for this to be happening.

I had a baby die in my arms of pertussis some fifty years ago. It was a HORRIBLE death. But my fellow nurses said to me, "It's almost stamped out now, they're all getting the shots, we won't be seeing this again."

HOW THE FUCK ARE WE HERE. 😡
A third infant has died in Kentucky, KYDPH adds:

“These are Kentucky’s first pertussis deaths since 2018. None of the infants nor their mothers received the recommended pertussis vaccinations during pregnancy or early infancy.”

I took a character strengths assessment the other day. (my wife uses it in her teaching.) www.viacharacter.org (account required to get results but it's free)

I was kind of surprised but weirdly proud that honesty and kindness were in my top 4.

I think the thing I hate most about the book piracy "discourse" is the fact that people can't just say "if you pirate books, you're an asshole" anymore without some fucking ass-clown saying that's hateful against the poors.

This is a $28 billion industry. The concerns of the youths getting them illicitly are absurdly overblown. "Getting sick from them" means passing out in a corner with a tummy ache. I can see restricting sales to places with liquor licenses but this genie isn't going back in the bottle.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but do not attempt to cool Thanksgiving dinner if you are not an experienced cook. there is a reason "person who does not cook regularly fails at cooking dinner for 8+ people" is such a time-honored trope. they are not clichés, they are cautionary tales.
