Avec de nouveaux arbres, de la nature et plus de place pour les piétons, Paris change !

La rue Charles-Baudelaire dans le 12ᵉ et la rue du Docteur-Magnan dans le 13ᵉ en sont de beaux exemples !

To be honest, the overtake was OK apart from the aggressive horn abuse. But yes, we usually catch them up further along.

MC74NTT. Warning letter from @gmpolice.bsky.social for this close pass. We need something better than just sending letters one driver at a time; the problem is endemic.

MD71JWF. Warning letter from @gmpolice.bsky.social for this. There was nothing to prevent this driver from leaving 1.5 metres gap when overtaking instead of the 0.8 metres that they gave.

PE13LSK. @gmpolice.bsky.social sent a warning letter to Stagecoach bus company for this. This bus driver passed far too close (~1 metre) at speed (~37mph) on Wednesday. The crap bit of paint @boltoncouncil.bsky.social put on the road is irrelevant, but shouldn't be on a 40mph road.

Good to see that @gmpolice.bsky.social sent a warning letter to this obnoxious driver that I encountered on Wednesday. He took exception to my safety flag (70cm) and abused the horn, then demonstrated his irrational, visceral hatred of people who ride bicycles. People like 5this are a danger to all.

I often think about how so many cities are absolutely AGONIZING over the idea of turning a single street, or even a block, into a people-place and pedestrian stroll, while thriving communities like Gràcia in Barcelona are filled with so many streets & squares with no cars, or at most “tamed” cars.”

Four weeks until the #BoltonCriticalMass highlight of the year: the Halloween Ride. And this year it's actually on Halloween. Get some spooky lights on your bike (optional), dress up (optional), and come down to enjoy the fun. The more the merrier.

The Halloween Ride Usually the most fun ride of the season. A chance to dress up yourself and your bike and ride along to a spooky playlist. As the clocks will go back the weekend before, this…

The Stupidest Speech in UN History! “Everyone’s saying so,” writes @billmckibben.bsky.social

“the shots of delegates looking on in disbelief as Trump vented about broken escalators, MAGA hats, & his general greatness for nearly an hour (ignoring the 15min time limit…)”

Global embarrassment. Joke.

Honestly, what the hell has Starmer and this Labour government ever done for the UK?

What we call things reveals a lot about our priorities and biases.

Graphic noting that people walking are called “vulnerable road users” as are people cycling. While “vehicles” are considered neutral and normal. But what if drivers were called “dangerous road users?”

Look what happens when these empty suits are held to account.

Lord Walney - former head of Labour Friends of Israel - can't even justify the existence of a proscription he has argued for.

Excellent journalism from Isobel Yeung - the rest of the media should take note

Bus drivers entering Bolton Interchange often fail to respect the priority set out in Highway Code rule 140. "Should" rules define what should be expected of a competent and careful driver, per RTA S.3.

This is why Greater Manchester's "Right Mix" target will never result in significant change in town like Bolton. (Thread 🧵)

I’m once again working with a city writing new integrated transportation & land use policy, and we’ve been discussing whether to PRIORITIZE walking, biking and transit, or achieve “BALANCE.” This is a key conversation where I sometimes give a fast and simple answer, but the truth is more complex. 1/
Graphic is showing a highly detailed prioritization of ways to get around a city, from most sustainable and healthy to least sustainable and healthy.

An excellent article from Simon Berriman.

We’re protecting people from the wrong things.

Fear of natural bodies distracts us from the real crisis: body shame, social media pressure & unrealistic beauty standards.

I think it will probably be resolved eventually. It seems to take a while sometimes.
