Was so depressing watching people defend Hogwarts Legacy when it was dead-up a shit-tier one of these. On top of everything else.

I think A big part of why modern AAA games feel so soul-less nowadays is because theres this weird dilution of genres re: mechanics. Feels like every AAA game is a shooter/open world/survival game with loot system, upgrade trees, and crafting systems and they all just blend together after a while.
I always feel crazy now when I'm designing stuff or talking about stuff and it's like "Well what are the mechanics?" and I'm like "what do you meaaaan who cares about the mechanics!!" and, like most things, it's just cause I'm old.
