A major new clinical trial, the Streptococcal Adaptive Platform (STRAP), has received $5 million in funding from the Australian Government’s Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) to improve treatment for life-threatening streptococcal infections across all age groups. Lead by researchers and clinicians from the Doherty Institute, Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI), and other national and international partners.

Daily PCT versus daily CRP versus no biomarkers to guide antibiotic cessation. PCT led to decrease in AB duration by 0.88 days. CRP was not useful.

All cause mortality 24.9% CI versus 26.8% intermittent (7202 randomised). Clinical cure at day 14 better with CI
Combined with meta-analysis - probabiliy=99% that CI reduces mortality.

DInh et al - RCT of all oral Rx for non-severe CAP. All oral non-inferior to IV. But small sample size, no quinolones used, many with CAP probably didn't have a bacterial infection #IDSky
