Hey CNN, this far into the Trump admin, the fact that you lead with the blatantly false claims made by the administration is a *you* problem. If you refuse to do actual journalism, and only want to be a mouthpiece of the state, just say so and stop pretending to be journalists.

I’m sure there’s no shortage of MAGA and ICE sympathizers in the department. But it’s also a little unclear what they could do. And they have noticeably turned a blind eye to rapid response and done absolutely nothing to help the feds that I’ve seen.

I’ll be honest, I have not come out of this particularly angry about the MPD. They’re massively outgunned and the idea of a federal-local armed conflict is scary. They’re also very noticeably nowhere to be seen whenever ICE conducts any operation. The mutual contempt is palpable
I imagine this is souring an already not great perception of the Minneapolis PD amongst the populace? I understand they’re “outnumbered” but I can’t imagine living under this terror and having any respect for the local police who didn’t even try to protect its people.

This. You were paid a lot and a lot of power and responsibility were placed on your shoulders. You preened for years on how important your roles were. And then at the first adverse wind you folded like cheap lawn chairs while ordinary people took up the torch of the values you claimed to defend.
The anger people have at media institutions and college administrators can’t be detached from this, it’s not just that people can perceive cowardice it’s that they see others with more on the line doing more to stand up for their values than the people who have been trusted to safeguard things

Not only is that false, remember, this Admin took a case to SCOTUS specifically arguing they should be allowed to do that.

I met so many heroic observers on the ground today, folks I’m starting to see every day. I still don’t know real names, but there are certain pseudonyms who are always out there and that make me feel safe. I’m meeting neighbors when we discover we’re rapid response together. Community is how we win.
