Scarleteen is one of the absolute best things that still remains of the internet I grew up on
A reminder that I'm raising $4k to support @scarleteen.com's staff and volunteer health fund to ensure that sex educators doing some of the BEST sex ed around are able to access health care. In an era of misinfo where most kids don't even get the most basic in school, Scarleteen is critical.

Thread. “AI is patching up the holes in conspiracy theories and so making them seem more reasonable, making them easier to spread and more resilient to collapse” was not on my bingo card.

AI relieves the pressure of cognitive dissonance. That’s … not great.
Bellingcat’s contact email has always been a magnet for people with fairly unusual views; paranoid delusions, sprawling conspiracies, the works. But recently, the pattern has shifted, we’re seeing more and more emails clearly written with ChatGPT.

pretty clear a big part of the mainstream media-led backlash to #metoo is the number of people in media who take advantage of and abuse others.

they made it seem like it's about fairness, but they just didn't want to face any real consequences for their behavior.
So if Olivia is 32 now, broke up with Lizza last year, was together with him for a decade, and then was living with you for 4+ years before that, how old was she when you moved her out of her (presumably parents’) house in the suburbs to live with you?
Btw about this from Lizza's reply: Olivia and I lived together for 4+ years (4 b'days, 4 Xmases, 4 anniversaries). That's like $1250 of jewelry per celebration. And her apartment was a writing studio. And I made an f-ton then. What was I supposed to do? Get her a lot of Gift Certificates from Kmart?

Absolutely wild to feel like 2010 Twitter was just five minutes and a lifetime ago.

I was there. I remember it. I underestimated how many rich middle-aged men were into teenagers.
In 2010, Keith Olbermann smeared the Assange rape accusers, went on a week-long tear of blocking everyone and quitting Twitter when criticized, then accused me of "glorifying smoking" because I had a cigarette in my PFP, but it would have made more sense if I'd known he was living with a teenager.

“Blending governance and family business” truly is an innovative way to obscure the accurate problem: CORRUPTION.

Absolutely bonkers to make this an inspirational tale instead of holding a president accountable.
Saudi officials used President Trump’s state visit in May to pique his interest in a major real estate development, the latest example of Trump blending governance and family business, particularly in Persian Gulf countries. nyti.ms/4r7mboU
