The manual for Wario Blast: Featuring Bomberman shows an extremely low level of effort regarding Wario illustrations. Despite Bomberman receiving various different drawings, only one artwork of Wario is used, which is repeated 19 times without any alterations.

In Super Paper Mario, Mr. L is actually much smaller than Mario and Luigi, and gets scaled up at runtime. The game was originally developed for the GameCube before moving to Wii; Mario and Luigi received new Wii graphics while Mr. L was stuck with small GameCube textures.

i have said this a lot as someone who has been in this space - being called "important" is usually a backhanded compliment from people who don't really want to engage with what you're doing but recognize it has some vague value. i don't strive to do things just because they're "important" generally.
