Hello to all my new followers. I'm u/Hergrim over on AskHistorians, and here I'm mostly intermittently active and post about medieval warfare, various random thoughts about medieval warfare, occasionally the intersection of history and fantasy and whatever else takes my fancy.

We should not assume a priori that Greek or Roman fighting resembled what we see in later medieval fighting treatises (wiktenauer.com !!) but we also can't discard the notion that the basic biomechanics are the same and it is good to know something about how people fight with contact weapons!

Whenever I play Wargame: Red Dragon with my fellow AH mods and we play against the AI, I often make the game and they usually ask what fresh hell it's going to be this time.

It's always helicopters, SEAD, ASFs, mid range tanks with GLATGAMs, high end IFVs and cheap infantry spam. I rarely change it

Sometimes people give me this slightly concerned look and ask if I'm okay to carry/lift something that's only 15-20kg, and I don't know why. I'm not the beanpole I was at 18, and I literally lift and carry those kinds of weights for work.

last week i remembered that macOS lets you set your own icons and that *I* have the power to delegitimize the professionalism of the software that runs on my machine, so here's a thread of the 16 new icons i've made so far

i really forgot how fun it was to just sit down and make art for myself :')

After publishing this article, I've heard from many that CR seems to be using AI to produce dub CCs. Now, thanks to a slip-up CR had with episode 6 dub of The Banished Court Magician, we can say that with 100% certainty: Crunchyroll is using the AI service Ollang.com for its dub closed captions!
