Hey, y'all remember Zayres? No reason, just wondering. Hey.

(If you know me, you can likely blame one of these letter sets: LJ, CLE, CoW)
Apartment hunting is a miserable sport. This week has featured a non-updated duplex that still somehow had a 76% (SEVENTY-SIX) increase in rent from 2024 and a place that's smaller and more expensive than my current one

Worked with @hcomeriato.bsky.social and @kenschneck.bsky.social to get this one out.

There's a lot of parts to this bill. We tried our best to break it down, show how legislators discussed it, and the resulting response from LGBTQ+ nonprofit organizations and leaders.

Give it a read.

You can't... repeal... a scientific finding. At that point it's just called lying about it.
Breaking News: The Trump administration repealed the bedrock scientific finding that greenhouse gases threaten human life and well being, meaning that the EPA can no longer regulate them. nyti.ms/4rSszQu

One of the most corrosive aspects of consumer identity just wholly swallowing politics for a ton of ppl is a belief that governance is this product that we receive passively rather than a process that we actively shape through ongoing participation

The landscaper for our office building is outside salting the sidewalks like he's trying to seed them. Giant bucket in one hand, other hand tossing salt out onto the concrete fields.

it feels weirdly important to note that many defensive takes do not analyze stories about how workers from Kenya to Columbia have been forced into a digital underclass:

"I am a children's entertainer who specializes in face painting," writes a woman now in hiding from the federal government for witnessing a state-sanctioned street execution
You have to read this. Firsthand affidavit from one of the women who was there and recording the video. She talks about how Alex Pretti was directing traffic when she arrived. She watched him be killed in front of her. She's afraid to go home, worried she'll be arrested.

This is simply untenable. There is no way forward with media and political classes captured by the right. Every time someone commits a crime you have to pray it's not an undesirable or it's purge time, then when it turns out to be themselves again they just shrug and wait for the next one.

The HHS rule banning trans care from many ACA plans is open for public comment now. Only 3 comments so far.

Embarrassing how the media is completely ignoring this. There's likely over 200,000 trans people on ACA plans (1% of 24 million)

We had a potluck at work today, which I usually don't enjoy FRTDNEATJ, but! I remembered Dylan Hollis' lemon cheat pie clip and I have a new go-to forced participation dessert. Threw some frozen blueberries on top and 👍👍
