I’m almost done with it now (I’ve been savoring it slowly) and The Works of Vermin by @hironennes.bsky.social might very well be one of the best books I’ve ever read. Period. I’ve already waxed feverish over its prose so I’ll spare you that this time. But you must read this book.

Just finished this. What a f***ing masterpiece. Threads of Peake, and Cisco, perhaps? But absolutely it's own thing. We only get a handful of writers this good in our timelines, everyone interested in Weird fic needs to read @hironennes.bsky.social now. My review hopefully soonish in a mag near you.

I finished reading this today, and it might be my favourite book of the year so far. A beautiful, ornate, sticky, slippery thing about art and metamorphosis. It's Peake-influenced in all the right ways, blackly funny even in its darkest corners. And so, so full of wriggling, crawling things.
