The crossing guard at my kids school is an older trans woman. I think she's only recently transitioned. I don't know her and really only just exchange greetings, but I love seeing her try on different looks as she's coming into her own.

Yeah, the original promise of free software was *lots of people* being able to fix and customize their software to their needs. There are new and different challenges here, but that promise is much more within reach right now than it has been.
