I wrote about 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' for its 60th anniversary (a tv special that remains, for my money, as good as it gets) and how it spiritually intersects with another Christmas staple: Sufjan Stevens. sojo.net/articles/cul...
Charlie Brown and Sufjan Know the ‘Good Grief’ of Christmas
As ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ celebrates 60 years, its legacy intersects with another beloved holiday classic: Sufjan Stevens’ ‘Songs for Christmas.’

Here is a French Christmas ad for a supermarket. It has infinitely better look, story, and message. It actually sparks joy in you rather than leaving you depressed, unlike Coca-Cola and McDonald's AI ads.

Warhorse. It is beautifully shot, an excellent cast, and I loved the soundtrack, but I cried so much I was dehydrated and gave myself a migraine.

Dammit, retailers, when I search for “dressing gown” I do not want a selection of flannel bathrobes, I want the one Hercule Poirot wore in the first season of Agatha Christie’s Poirot.

Computer, please summarize everything PG Wodehouse ever wrote in ten seconds
rich dudes got freakier after butlers fell out of fashion, like say what you will about having domestic servants but clearly it was some sort of moderating force on old rich dudes having a fancy man follow you around saying shit like "oh dear sir, that wouldn't be very becoming"

Since this is a short school week and I knew a bunch of kids would be out, i wanted to do something kind of fun but wouldn’t be a big deal if students missed, so MOVIE DAY. I decided to show my Computer Science kids the 1995 Apollo 13 movie and they were LOCKED IN.

I gave Monty’s corner of the classroom a makeover today and finally hung up some of my @sarahmackattack.bsky.social posters! I need to get a couple more frames for the rest of them.

It has a possibly sentient, probably murderous sourdough starter in it.
