AHEM. So as I was saying before Donald's "event," to understand MAGA you need to think of it as a confidence game. He lies about his past. He stokes paranoias while promising imaginary cures. Then he steals what he wants.

But the important part is that Trump's admin is made up _entirely_ of these confidence games! Musk; Hegseth; Patel; Bongino; Bondi; Noem, etc. The play is _always_ "lie about your skills, swoop in claiming you're the genius who will save everything and expose the evildoers, then steal things."

The reason Trump's toadies are all now crashing and burning is that the con man mantra, "I am a trustworthy genius and everyone else you know is scheming against you," is not an actual method of governance! The heart of the con is being able to skip town _before_ you're exposed as a lying screw-up.

I'm old enough to remember when the networks refused to carry an incredibly important speech at Independence Hall in Philadelphia by President Biden about creeping fascism in the U.S. because it was "too political".

Sure, but they'll broadcast every minute of Trump's propaganda bullshit. 🙄

"That’s the sound of a man who will do nothing to challenge—and anything to justify—presidential violations of the Constitution, as long as the president is of his own party.

The American founders expected better leaders than Johnson."
"To bring a democracy under authoritarian control, you need more than a strongman. You need politicians who will assure the public, as we slide toward one-man rule, that nothing odd is happening. That’s the role Johnson is playing in Trump’s takeover of America." www.thebulwark.com/p/speaker-mi...

“I spent three nights and three days in federal custody. During that time, I was never told what I was charged with, was not allowed to shower despite being covered in tear gas and pepper spray, had no phone call to my family, and no access to an attorney.” - George Retes, U.S. citizen and veteran.
I’m a US citizen and a veteran. ICE arrested me for no reason.
Jailed for three days without an explanation or ability to notify anyone, George Retes argues the only path to healing starts with the government taking accountability for its actions.

Chicago journalist Debbie Brockman, who was thrown to the ground & handcuffed by ICE, has been released without charges

DHS said she assaulted an officer, but eye witnesses claim she didn’t

The lack of charges makes it clear that ICE is lying to try and cover up the fact that they attack the press
