Slow start to winter for Western US mountainous regions. Snowpack is vital to water resources. Excluding Southern Sierra Nevadas little to no snow cover yet. Red ares are <50% of normal as of December 2. There are some hints that things may pick up around mid-late December. For now it’s wait & see.

This is a decision we would have preferred not to make, and we know that this may be upsetting for members of our community. There will be no immediate changes for current young members, but more information will be shared soon. Most adult roles - including unit helpers, district helpers and administrative support - are already open to all, so we are confident that no volunteers will have to leave the organisation. Girlguiding believes strongly in inclusion, and we will continue to support young people and adults in marginalised groups. I spent several more months agonizing over edits, desperately rephrasing sentences out of coherence and back again. Even with all of that work, it isn't perfect. It will never be perfect. I will never be perfect. Imperfect people will read it and I love that for us. This zine was not created by AI. I wrote it and rewrote it during a really hard time in my life. Many times, it seemed like I'd turned 40 and had been unceremoniously dropped back to Square One by life. I couldn't see how I could make anything work. So, I made a zine. This zine was not created by AI. Every time I almost gave up, I worked through it instead. By the time it was finished, it felt like a small epiphany for how I wanted to make art going forward. This zine was not created by AI. Finishing it was a gift I gave myself when I felt devalued and defeated. It's a love letter to myself, horror movies, and I guess to all of us. Assumption of good faith is a solid heuristic.

But also "assumptions" are guesses you make before you have the evidence. You are allowed to retract good faith once more evidence arises.

But also, you shouldn't assume good faith from folks who are your avowed enemies.
