Reading #YearByYear that tracks the evolution of Star Wars alongside real-world events, and the layout is occasionally hilarious:

I genuinely don't understand the confusion around the Mando movie.

Who is he fighting in the trailer? Imperials, thugs and some gladiator monsters. Who is he working with? New Republic. Who's on the poster? The Hutts and AT-ATs.

What else do you need to know that's not in the official logline?

I feel like your response to this is mostly contingent on expectations.

If you spent weeks hyping over getting an epic new trailer, sure, you'd feel let down. I was.

But if you're casual TV dad who never knew this was coming, you'd say: "Ha, it's a Bud commercial, but with Baby Yoda. Pretty cool!"

They wanted an embodiment of toxic masculinity and immediately thought of Jared Leto.
Skeletor is "the embodiment of toxic masculinity" in Masters of the Universe, says director Travis Knight.

“[Jared Leto] wanted to swing for the fences,” the director tells Empire. “We landed on something that I’m really happy with.”

I love how George Lucas invented a whole-ass fictional history for the Skywalker Ranch to explain his design ideas to the architects.

A natural-born storyteller!

Probably the most technically accomplished film Ron Howard ever made — and we're talking about the guy who did Apollo 13!

Never fails to amaze me how no one died on that set. Although they did almost burn Scott Glenn's balls off!
35 years later & the BACKDRAFT trailer still makes me want to run through a wall. Pure cinema

Last year I've had a great time playing Fate of Atlantis (1993) and Crazy Taxi (1999) for the first time. I also frequently distract myself with a round or two of Dr. Mario (1990).

Have some respect for your own work, Bruce!

"Go back and play Morrowind and tell me that’s the game you want to play again," said Bruce Nesmith, who worked for Bethesda for over 17 years, adding that playing The Elder Scrolls 3 "would not stand the test of time." https://bit.ly/4q4GoKh

I guess Darren Aronofsky...

...got caught stealing.

That’s the premise of a new series that Darren Aronofsky is producing.

Went down a random rabbit hole today, trying to figure out when they showed the very first Star Wars footage in IMAX.

Most likely, it's this 1996 documentary by Ben Burtt, who not only chronicled the making of Special Editions, but recreated the famous ANH opening.

Never forget that the reason they are so convinced you’re all getting paid is that they are all getting paid.
The fact that every right winger with influence screams "who is paying for all of this" tells you exactly how awash in cash they all are, and how much they rely on that to keep their movement afloat.

If you zoom in all the way to the back case, on the third shelf from the top you'll see Russian editions of Star Wars books from Terra Fantastica Publishing (2000-2010).

I imagine, Steve has all 69 of them!
Our library is filled with Star Wars books from all over the world!
*And sometimes you can even find an author of some of those books if you look hard enough😉📚

Oh, I love this evolution of the TCW style: familiar 3D models, but set against somewhat distorted, painterly backgrounds and effects.

@joelaron.bsky.social and his team are knocking it out of the park yet again!

So, are we ready to call Ryan Coogler one of today's greatest filmmakers?
January 22, 2026 at 2:07 PM
Like... how?

How did they start with a man wrongfully accused of a crime and having to defend himself against a "more efficient" AI judge / executioner, and ended up with a pro-AI message?

Finally got to see #AUsefulGhost, and want to shout from the rooftops about how great this movie.

Starts as an absurdist comedy about a man reconnecting with his dead wife whose spirit haunts a vacuum cleaner. But then it starts shifting gears in numerous other unexpected (and darker) directions.

I don't think we've ever seen a more public display of how dementia reverts one's mental state to childhood.
“I’m taking over a sovereign country because nobody gave me the Nobel Peace Prize.”

I know history repeats itself as farce but Jesus Christ, this is literally “Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this the War Room!” mixed with Suzy Eddie Izzard’s “Do you have a flag?” imperialism bit.

Seen quite a few people go: "Well, of course Dave Filoni disliked Andor! It wasn't constantly throwing legacy characters at us!"

And, I'm sorry, which #Andor were you watching?

Cause mine had Mon Mothma, Saw, Bail, Krennic, K-2SO, Melshi, Draven, Semaj, Yularen, Raddus and that Rebel radio guy.
