Maher Tarabishi, who has been detained by ICE since October, was the primary caretaker of his disabled adult child, Wael.

On Jan. 23, Wael died from complications related to Pompe disease, a rare genetic condition.

ICE has now denied Maher’s request to attend his funeral, his attorney says.

A reminder that ICE hasn’t slowed down in Minneapolis at all.

Outside of Minnesota, it might feel like everything has changed since Alex Pretti’s murder. But ICE hasn’t actually lost any power and they’re continuing to terrorize our communities.

Would you all be shocked to learn this was a targeted killing?

I wouldn’t.

There is a reverse angle of one cop walking away and clapping.
CNN is reporting that federal authorities may have been collecting information and "documenting details" about Alex Pretti before killing him on Saturday, and that officers tackled him a week earlier. www.cnn.com/2026/01/27/u...

“Is it the smell or the medical devices?

Only Donnie the Demented™️ knows for sure!”
This is at least the second interview Trump has done this month in this really weird format -- standing, with his overcoat still on, and at some distance from the man interviewing him.

All the rumors about binding girdles, adult diapers and his ungodly stench all seem a little more likely here.

Something important to understand about ICE thugs in the Twin Cities is that they're harassing innocent kids and parents at bus stops and schools every single day. Even after the Pretti shooting. It's terrorism.

I heard someone say it was “extreme” to demand the names of the ICE agents who murdered Alex Pretti.

No. Demanding government disclosure of the names of government agents when they kill Americans is moderate.

Wanting to read the names off the plaque at a mass grave would be, perhaps, extreme.

Recall this was a goddamned monthly exercise by DC media in the first administration.

It’s more ridiculous now than it was then.

Your reminder to all that the current state of neoliberal Dems only exists; not because Clinton was a master politician. Nor because carville was a genius. He OBVIOUSLY is not.

ROSS PEROT SPLIT THE GODDAMNED REPUBLICAN VOTE AND WE HAD THE CLINTONS FOISTED UPON US!!!

TY for attending my TED talk.
Anyway, Bill Clinton taught the party to think like this, to whittle down your asks to make sure they look "reasonable" so that when the GOP tells you to fuck off you can turn to the camera and say "Look how unreasonable they are!"

Someone should write a book about this, etc

Perry: Abolish ICE? How about DHS altogether.
"We have models for how to structure federal immigration oversight that doesn't rely on an unaccountable masked secret police force running rampant in our streets," David M. Perry writes.

Root and branch. As a starting point.

Broad prosecutions as aspirational.

Dems HAVE to think bigger.

#abolishICE
The devil will be in the details here, of course, but this is a good start. It’s not everything. ICE is still out of control. This doesn’t change that.

But you start somewhere. Take the points, build on the momentum, keep up the pressure.

Don’t forget those who sacrificed to get us here.
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

Good reminder.

It’s not what the assholes try doing to us.

It’s how we respond to that, that will win,
in the end.
The Minnesota civil resistance campaign has been remarkably successful:

- The GOP governor candidate dropped out
- Numerous DOJ officials resigned
- GOP members of Congress are speaking out; business feels pressure
- Noem has been relieved of operational responsibility

The campaign is winning.

If Stephen Miller is still in the White House, that means the white nationalist gameplan is still all systems GO.

What we're witnessing is just window dressing and distractions.

Tom Homan is just as bad as Bovino, but less openly Nazi.

Keep your eyes wide open.

The killing of Alex Pretti and the grotesque lying was an overreach by the administration. They've paid a price and had to pull back a bit. But it's when there's some disarray that the democratic opposition needs to intensify the offensive, and turn a marginal tactical success into a major victory.
