The callousness of the whites is unbelievable
Breaking from us:

As the Trump administration searches for more space to detain immigrants, it is approaching Washington tribes to see if they will participate.

Nisqually Indian Tribe is saying no.

There's been a lot of pearl-clutching about public grocery stores!

Which is wild, because we have a LOT of experience with public grocery stores in the US. And the folks it serves (US military & military families) stand by it.

This is cool. COURIER has created a searchable database with all 20,000 of the files just released from Epstein’s estate.

Trump's name appears in them more than anyone else, in 1,628 documents.

One thing that's abundantly clear: passing the SAFE Research Act would permanently end the United States' ability to be competitive in any area of advanced technology. Just straight up suicidal policy-making.
This has gotten surprisingly little attention — it's not even on the front page of @science.org right now — but it's really hard to describe what the SAFE Research Act would do to US science and scientists without sounding insane

Pete Buttigieg, whose most recent electoral performance was a crushing loss in the primaries, tells us not to talk about identity.

Zohran Mamdani, who won, refused to throw any constituent under the bus on the basis of their identity.

Whose vision for the Democratic Party seems more compelling?

Talking of horseshoe theory, those "centrists" do love to slap the "populist" label on socialists and fascists alike because it plays to that false equivalence, but it also gives the game away that their centre is really the *centre of power & privilege*, their politics one of ruling class *elitism*

"You'll never understand them unless you're prepared to hear what they have to say."

I'm sure you could build a ciphered system transmitted via violent, demeaning, dehumanizing rhetoric and actions but I'd question the value of any message it carries if people have to be repeatedly hurt to hear it.

@mskellymhayes.bsky.social I was reading this book on a plane this week, and the person next to me recognized it!

I encouraged her, and literally anyone seeing this, to BUY THIS BOOK.

Reading it is emotional. A tool of fascism is to make you feel alone, like they’ve won. This book is an antidote.

I question why redemption must include license to wield power over others.
No one is sending these people into exile. We're saying we don't trust them (because they have a history of being untrustworthy).
If they've really changed their stripes, why is it so hard for them to accept this?
In order to move men, we have to welcome folks who have done things in the past we abhor. We have to allow folks to redeem themselves.

It’s sometimes uncomfortable, but it’s the only way we can win moving forward.

The math doesn’t math without more men.
