It turned out that things like morals, empathy and dignity are like trees---they take decades to grow. They can also be clear cut just like trees: when ppl are doused daily with fear, bigotry and hate. *Please credit work of artists whose work you post!

It started with everyone being fine with throwing immune compromised under the Covid bus ...on their way to brunch.

Full on apathy and don't give AF led to this mess.

Wearing a mask to protect others was just too "weird".
Wowsa.
That was an amazing half time show.

I didn't understand a word of it but I loved every minute of it.

For all that’s written about right-wing billionaires and democracy right now, their deep hostility to public education is under-covered.

The through-lines are shared hostility to:

local government that citizens encounter each day,

emphases on equity (both racial and economic),

labor unions.
Just before election 2024 @nhannahjones.bsky.social invited to me to speak at her Center for Journalism & Democracy summit on oligarchy.

My topic was billionaire threats to public education, rooted in resistance to the Civil Rights era.

Thinking about Nikole’s event a lot this week.

How fitting that this happened at Morrill Hall, named after the 1862 act giving stolen Native American land to land grant universities like UMinn to promote settler colonialist agriculture and its extractive practices.
Another colonizer institution perpetuating racism and ignoring its own history.
NEW: In a protest against the University of Minnesota’s accommodation of DHS & ICE, 6 students chained themselves to Morrill Hall demanding the university be a sanctuary campus. Three of the chained students left after being threatened with academic retaliation and police arrested the remaining 3.

Trump will not attend the Super Bowl because he can’t take being booed mercilessly.

He has canceled the F-22 flyover because if he can’t be there so he’s taking his toys and going home.

Meanwhile, the Pedo Bowl is being projected on buildings.

This vector of attack worries me a lot more than the wandering ICE goons on Election Day.
Here's @rickhasen.bsky.social detailing the scenario in which Trump uses search warrant to seize ballot boxes in a contested 2026 locale. This is more worrisome than ICE at the polls. Hasen also suggests ways to act against this now.

It's harrowing stuff:

Let’s start with what should be obvious: whoever wins the Democratic nomination, we Dems should support him or her.
