This beautiful child, an American citizen just like his parents, is being bullied because Donald Trump is a racist piece of shit and white supremacy feels emboldened to act without shame. This hatred is taught and it is wrong.

Today I spoke with Greg Bovino, a top U.S. Border Patrol chief, as he led dozens of feds in military gear through downtown Chicago.

He said they were arresting folks based on “how they look.”

“How do they look compared to, say, you?” he said, referring to me.

Trans rights are not the rights of a tiny minority, trans rights are everyone’s rights to self-determination, control of our bodies, and a society where opportunity and aesthetics are not restricted by sex assigned at birth

You should support and defend trans people because trans people are people

And this is why independent journalism is so important.
I am baffled by the Washington Post's sanitized framing of this story. The Supreme Court is clearly going to "rule on the law" -- that is what courts do! The news is that SCOTUS signaled that it might gut the VRA entirely.

Compare WaPo and Democracy Docket's headlines. Which source do you trust?

USAID didn’t fail. It fed 127,000 kids—then was erased mid-crisis. No speech. No tribute. Just silence. They didn’t end a program. They liquidated a covenant. The last American promise not built on conquest—but care.

Phang: Where are Americans supposed to go now to get their news? They come here. They come to independent media because we are not controlled by corporate overlords.

This is the place you have to come now—because mainstream media is showing that it’s too scared to stand up to Donald Trump.

You cannot be an LGBTQ+ ally and vote Republican or support Donald Trump.

You cannot be an LGBTQ+ ally and attend a church that denies their humanity.

And you really can’t move fully into allyship if you stay silent in the face of those who are complicit in the war on the queer community.

Breaking: The Trevor Project received a stop-work order last night on its contract with the national 988 suicide prevention hotline. The Trump administration is eliminating the option for LGBTQ callers to the hotline to press 3 and connect with someone who specializes in LGBTQ mental health.

This horrific bit from Jessica Valenti's substack:
WV prosecutor Tom Truman said if women who miscarry want to avoid arrest, they should “call 911” to tell them that their pregnancy has ended: “Call your doctor. Call law enforcement, or 911, and just say, ‘I miscarried. I want you to know.’”

What infuriates me so much about this new operation is that it is literally punishing people for following the rules and showing up to their court hearings. It is so toxic to the basic concept of following the rules.

It is an operation designed by people who hate the concept of the rule of law.
These people were following the law and went to check in with immigration like they are supposed to.

This woman's immigration case was dismissed, which made her immediately undocumented.

So ICE took her into custody.

The air conditioning was off in the back of the truck.
