the problem isn't the money. it's the power. and also they used the money to get the power but that's not important

“The problem with billionaires isn’t that they’re hoarding money that would otherwise pay for a Scandinavian social utopia. It’s that their money has become a source of wildly distorted political power that allows a few men with extremist views to wreak havoc on the rest of us.”

I never tire of executives who do absolutely nothing and contribute a sum total of zero to a company asking the actual workers to justify how they spend every minute of the day

News: Bari Weiss just sent a memo to staffers at CBS News asking them to produce a memo explaining "how you spend your working hours—and ideally, what you've made (or are making) that you're most proud of."

One CBS News staffer puts it like this to me: "We just got Elon Musked."

Inktober, Day 9, "Heavy": This is the heaviest character I could think of. It is a revisit to one of the first color prints I offered way back in 1993 at my first Gen Con Art Show, on the heels of the release of the AD&D "Monstrous Manual". 🎨

I mean we do need to do something about social media poisoning everyone's brain but like cigarettes, alcohol, and nearly all drugs, I don't think simply "banning" it for people under a certain age is gonna do much, if anything. Like how does one propose to even enforce such a law?

It's fascinating how every trial run of a government-run "give money to people whose problems can be solved by simply giving them money" scheme turns out to have a tremendous return on investment on TOP of benefiting the recipients, and still it's like "ohhhh we don't know about this!! scary!!!"

Rep. Riley Moore: "I think the actual residents of Washington DC are very happy with the outcome. And I think the actual residents of Chicago and our other great cities here in America would actually like to have safe streets and not people murdered every night."

The very first statute authorizing domestic use of the military during domestic emergencies, enacted in 1792 by a Congress full of the same folks who wrote and ratified the Constitution, expressly provided for judicial review in certain circumstances *before* the President could even send troops.

Mr. President, sir, it’s vital that you have ICE attempt to detain Bad Bunny during the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Everyone is saying it — it would own the libs so bad, if you very publicly attempted to arrest to one of the most popular musicians alive.

Bari Weiss is set to be named the editor in chief of CBS News, the New York Post reports
Paramount Skydance is poised to name Bari Weiss as editor in chief of CBS News in the coming days — giving the hard-charging journalist unusual clout to revamp the struggling network as it also acquires her scrappy news site the Free Press, The Post has learned.

Weiss — a 41-year-old former New York Times opinion writer who has built the Free Press into a buzzworthy site with a contrarian bent — is expected to be named to the top post in a Monday announcement, although the talks are in flux and the timing could change, a source close to the situation said.

I actually blame being shunted into the gifted program at my school for the fact that I have no friends from childhood and clinical anxiety.

My wife is an elementary gifted ed specialist. The idea that gifted kids either don't exist or don't benefit from gifted education services is both wrong and harmful to those kids. Phasing out gifted programs is stupid. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/02/n...
