ICE kidnapped 5 people from my community this morning. I don’t live in Minneapolis. I live in LA County. They’re still here and their still brutalizing.

I host a mental health podcast called Depresh Mode. And I live in Minnesota. Here's what I said at the end of this week's show about mental health, life in Minnesota, and their overlap.

You can also listen to it here:

It’s all so stupid
Minneapolis, MN -

After FPS agents went into the hotel, shot teargas and kinetic munitions into the crowd assembled outside he wanted to know where the PD is to the press. I asked if he has a message for the community members that wanted out. No response. None to the mayor either.

"Now it’s time for our rich sports owners to take the baton," writes columnist Jim Souhan.

"Shut it all down until it’s safe for every Minnesotan to drive to a sports venue without being rammed, beaten, abducted or killed."
Souhan: What good are sports in times like these?
Local owners should be making a statement. Better yet, they should be taking action.

Remember the other day when I was saluting my friend Greg Ketter, owner of Minneapolis’ DreamHaven Books? This is him the following day. Greg will never say this, so I will — now is a great time to buy books from DreamHaven. Support Americans who stand up vs. 🧊. dreamhavenbooks.com

I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.

Sending love to my friends in Minneapolis right now. I know a lot of you have been marching, observing, organizing, etc. It’s beautiful to see and I’m grateful as a fellow American and human being. But I also hope you’re all coping well and holding up emotionally through all of this.

that crowd doesn’t even include the people actively patrolling, doing mutual aid, and dozens of small protests on corners throughout the city during the march. really cannot adequately convey the size of this thing that is happening

A coworker took this from her apartment. I haven't seen a crowd this size before. Maybe the first Women's March? But it was much much warmer that day. ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA!

I keep thinking about that New Yorker piece from last week that argued “protest is dead.” Meanwhile the protest has never stopped, and won’t ever end. Because the protest is also feeding people, it’s raising money for rent relief, it’s whistles, it’s diapers, it’s also signs and strikes.

As awful has all of this has been I’m extremely proud of how my home town has been handling it. Let the community organizing be a model for us all. And this today (at 9 below!) is just beautiful.
Demonstrators as far as the eye can see. Current status of the march in Downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota for Ice Out of Minnesota. They are turning onto 3rd Street from 5th Avenue.
