A heads-up from @billmckibben.bsky.social: "One way of summing up this moment is to say that the endangerment finding & the politics of climate are puny in the face of physics. We’re going to see that physics in action in the next 24 months, and it will drive many changes... some of them political"

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

At Google, speech critical of ICE is censored from the company's internal platform, employees who speak out are served with warnings, and leadership refuses to acknowledge a petition that's now gotten 1,200 employee signatures.

Inside the worker-led push to get ICE out of Google:
Google is stifling anti-ICE speech in the workplace as 1,200 employees call on the company to cut ties
The search giant has made it harder and riskier to protest its policies. Workers are still fighting back. Plus: A community takes down a data center, QuitGPT, and the 5 worst Super Bowl AI ads.

ICE wants to cover their faces and prevent people from recording what they are doing. In no way should we allow the right to normalize the behaviors of a fascist police state,

What an embarrassingly pathetic bunch of losers.
Rep Mark Alford (R-MO) says House Rs are "investigating" Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show & talking with FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr. Alford says he didn't watch the whole thing & also doesn't know Spanish but suspects it might have been "much worse than the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction"

Rep. Delia Ramirez to DHS officials: "I have as much respect for you as I do for the last white men who put on masks to terrorize communities of color. I have no respect for the inheritors of the Klanhood and the slave patrol. Those activities were criminal and so are yours."

This is well worth the listen.
“What I try to do is remember that the ultimate aim of an authoritarian movement is to erode our will to resist...Because as long as we’re still resisting, refusing and ridiculing them - all of which are essential - it’s costly for them.”

Call them what they are: concentration camps.
You know what they’re going to store in those warehouses?

People
In the last month ICE has bought warehouses in:

- Hagerstown, MD: $102 million
- Surprise, AZ: $70 million
- Hamburg, PA: $87 million
- Tremont, PA: $120 million
- San Antonio, TX: $82 million
- El Paso, TX: $123 million
- Social Circle, GA: price unknown

This is unprecedented.

In Minnesota, ICE agents are illegally racially profiling residents, drawing weapons during arrests, claiming people’s citizenship documents are fake, and leaving people with long-lasting injuries.

There is no excuse for Democrats to continue funding these jackbooted thugs.
