Let me know if you try any of them!

If you consider yourself progressive/liberal/leftist: Before you post something rude about someone’s “attitude” or “personality” or “vibe” (etc.) online, I beg of you to reflect on your internalized homophobia, racism, fatphobia, and misogyny first.

new iOS update is sleek and also defaults in Music to “you must want songs transition as they would on a dance floor.” so many people will wonder why they can’t just listen to an album. Apps > Music > Song Transitions > toggle off.

hard to overstate how bad this is for discrimination against everyone but white people.

I'm saying we are undergoing a wholesale revision of equal protection and anti-discrimination law so that it only protects white people.

Let me explain:
This makes facially neutral policies--like poll taxes and literacy tests--that we know were adopted for discriminatory purposes legal. Organizations can now simply claim there was no discriminatory intent regardless of outcome. It's unconstrained institutionalized racism.
They're just taking an ax to the Civil Rights Act

Last month, Denny's was bought out by private equity in a $620 million deal.

Now the company is closing 150 locations.

It's the latest chain to be swallowed by private equity and see numerous workers lose their jobs.

on today's episode of "Claire's Therapist Is Everyone's Therapist," we were talking about how I always love "the new year is coming, I'm going to Fix Myself" energy but can never sustain a resolution

she suggested treating the last day of every month as a mini New Year's with one small new goal

Taking “50 years” literally (so looking at things released in 1934) because otherwise there are too many options: Bright Eyes starring Shirley Temple.
actual bluesky challenge: post your favorite work of art from fifty years before you were born.

AI is not ensouled. None of it. Just because the people using it are creative and capable of projection and yearning does not ensoul a machine, a text prediction engine, or even a fictional character (and AI is as a concept a fictional character created by tech assholes).

it is interesting that m and ms are not really a new flavor or anything just a new delivery method. some buckaroo said 'okay if we give these a thin candy shell then you can just eat chocolate by THE HANDFUL' and the whole world was just like 'okay this is now the most popular candy ever'

Just had my appointment with the new guy. I like him. He’s switching me to appointments every six months instead of every three since everything’s been pretty consistent, and if I need med refills in between I can just call them in.
since I almost always see the NP. I think I’ve seen my actual doctor twice since my FIRST doctor (who delivered me) retired in 2018.

I have no qualms about going to a newly minted doctor. More current medical knowledge AND I won’t have to deal with yet another doctor retiring in a few years.

This is something I and my fellow hyper literate types have a really hard time grasping. It’s frustrating to think you’re being really clear in writing, but still get wildly misunderstood because you’ve overestimated people’s literacy level.

This is…a real problem online.
People don't understand what is meant by "literacy" and the "literacy crisis".

Literacy isn't just not being able to physically read. Many people know how to see words and say words, which is basic reading. Literacy is being able to infer the correct information from what you read.

Birthday month offers started rolling in. Used 2 yesterday (1 to get a $25 sweatshirt at Kohl’s for $11 when combined w/ sale, & 1 for $5 off a bakery item - peanut butter brownies - at a grocery store).

Best so far: Lane Bryant, used today to get 7 pair of undies for $9.68 - cheaper than Walmart!

This is why yall have to stop laughing at things because you can tell someone is TRYING TO BE funny, and only laugh at things that actually make you involuntarily laugh. The stakes are too high for polite or status laughter.
My hottest current take :

White and edgelord humor is one long line of insincere bullying that depends in you not wanting to be the person who “doesn’t get the joke”

This is a fun holiday read. Who made Rudolph happen? A Jewish copy writer; his Jewish composer brother-in-law; the BIL’s neighbor who happened to be Arthur Rankin; and a Japanese animator who had pioneered new stop motion techniques. Now that’s an American Christmas

Being extremely careful about image/video attribution isn’t JUST important for giving credit to artists and creators. It’s also a way to slightly decrease your chances of spreading deceptive AI slop!
The thing that made me most suspicious was the lack of attribution of any kind. A conveniently perfect light-up sign at the beginning that states the premise of the video but doesn’t mention the facility, for instance. (This is part of why it’s bad to share stuff if you don’t know its provenance!)

Y'all the latest episode of the #Kilauea #eruption just went CRAZY. It looks like pressure built up enough to explode out the ground around the two existing vents (first few seconds), leading to a massive surge in lava fountaining.🌋🤯
