Speaking as someone who has periodically wished I was born *considerably* shorter, not to mention the health issues associated with being too tall, I think that the idea that you're 'optimizing your child's start in life' by doing eugenics to make them tall is clearly based on society's prejudices.

If your takeaway from 'you can't trivially control people's gender and sexuality through methods like conversion therapy' is 'it would be fine if it worked, but it doesn't,' then I do not trust you because you just admitted you think that torturing people into social conformity is acceptable.
