Yes, 3 nil Chelsea v Barcelona!

Cmon Chelsea!

Acknowledge that MPs pressed for time (though the campaigned to be on committees), but (strong) chairs of committees should do their job and corral questions to focus on eliciting the truth

People like me (in past)! Supplying briefings plus in-session notes. But ultimately up to MPs to do their homework and also devise a proper coordinated questioning plan (inc on the hoof follow ups). But always felt a bit lackadaisical…

Yes, but also they haven’t devised a strategy or goal for their questions; what, exactly, are they trying to find out?

My experience advising such committees (not this one) was the frustration at the poor questioning from MPs (despite initial briefing and in-session scribbled notes!)

I’ve been involved with the BSA health questions for years and have seen GP satisfaction decline significantly over the last few years…suspect access (as with dentists and A&E) has been main cause of recent trends

Learnt a new word today: Adermatoglyphia - the lack of fingerprints. Caused by a gene mutation. Will try and casually introduce this word in my next conversation.

Straighten up and fly right

Christ, just had to renew m’driving licence. Involved setting up an account (and gov.uk login app) plus passport number, scanning passport chip, confirmatory selfies and at least four 6 digit confirmation numbers at various points. …. All good I guess? Is it good?

Excellent The Naked Week on BBC Radio 4!

Rabbits! Go get ‘em!
Hmmm. Think I’ll just lie here and do a dog fart in a bit… pffft

Number of deaths in Russia’s gangsta war against Ukraine - the combined populations of Liverpool and Leeds. It continues, with 1,000+ deaths a week. The US/EU could end this tomorrow.

This seems like a pretty unlikely outcome but if it’s anywhere close then a lot of people who have proclaimed the victory of post-liberalism might want to check their Icarus wings

‘Retirement conference’. Hope it will go/went well! I’m not sure I’d want my career examined/critiqued in a conference tbh!
When I was reflecting on my career for my retirement conference I realised it was built on three things I was advised no respectable philosophy academic should do

1 Write texts for students

2 Write collaborative public policy reports

3 Co-author philosophical research

My advice. Do your thing.

Take position C when really willing to retreat to position B…

I presume we’re all presuming the Epstein files when released will be heavily redacted and missing a few pages?

Couple of people on the subway at Bowery and Classon Avenue NYC sketches

2026 calendar up. Thanks @themodernist.bsky.social !

Nice chart. Would be good to see cumulative change to end of chart using successive base years starting with 1990/1 to 2020/21 (also, what real pay would be if tracked changes in nhs productivity)… cluttered lines, but informative (I think!)
