"So, her name is Justice, right? And she's a poet, see?"
New York City population: 8.8 million
Austria population: 9.0 million

NYC GDP: 2.6 trillion USD
Austria GDP: 600 billion USD

It's akin to being prime minister of a medium sized European nation.
"Well, you could run Paris-Bruxelles-Amsterdam instead of London, or you could try the France-Spain cross border, or you could find a different solution..."
fuck the Washington Post with a flaming cactus wrapped in infected razor wire.

as ever, only Democrats have agency; Republicans are just a fact of nature for Democrats to compromise with.

Holy. Moly.
#Dinner! My latest go at reproducing my beloved Galboroni Pasta from Liuzza’s in New Orleans, a dish lost since Katrina.

Long-cooked spicy tomato sauce with crisped pepperoni strips, tossed with spaghetti and topped with stuffed artichoke hearts. 😍

I think I got it, brah! #NOLA

A nine year old brown boy living in NYC on 9/11 who grew up to love the city knows more about New York culture and New York values than this bitter, bilious husk of man riding his father’s coattails into his seventh decade could ever know
"graffiti campaigns, sabotage of railway lines in Germany, cyberattacks, disruption of airports"

"The aim is to disrupt the unity of Western states and sow discord among the citizens of European countries."

I hope that -- in our own way -- we're doing the same to them.
i thought the same -- are they going to compare your face against your birth certificate?

maybe they're going to compare against a database of people who entered legally and were photographed at port of entry, and thereby find those who've over stayed their visas?

Having a cup of English Breakfast (tea with beans in it)
oh no, all those laverbread exports to the US!
Wiki tells me the strip debuted in 1918. Frank King did the Sunday strips until 1951 and the daily strips until 1969.

King’s assistants took over until 1986; the strip is now on its fifth artist.
Wow. The story might be hokey, but the artist gave it 1,000%.

Bird’s eye, worm’s eye, close-up, long shot, realistic, abstract…. Tremendous!

Who’s the artist? Or who are the artists?
Gasoline Alley ran for decades -- I met it as a kid when it was far past its prime and entirely skippable.

Learning how good it was in its early days has been, as your say, a great discovery. Simple, gentle, imaginative, touching, surprisingly personal, one of a kind.
Some serious Bull Connor shit right there
"Your wife and kids hope you won't come home a murderer!"
what wonderful worms! what a wonderful wednesday!

something about the light and color makes them look translucent. i'm supposing they aren't really. still, pretty weird!

Hegseth lives for the electric tingle that he feels in his groin when he says things like "lethality" and "we will hunt and kill them."
contemptible. pathetic.

somehow they manage to be both the thinnest-skinned babies and the most malevolent devils.
She's going to write all the stories, take all the photos, anchor the evening news, and even sweep up at the end of the day.
Catching Crappie in Unexpected Places, featuring The Judge, would be tremendous slow-TV.

some deep southern Yerhonor travelling the country, setting up his lawn chair, casting his line, meeting locals, telling stories from his days in the courthouse. it'd be brilliant.
