Remember your favorite creator possibly might be struggling with imposter syndrome and doubt and this timeline sucks.. so if you find yourself thinking “wow I really relate to this persons work” or that persons work gives you joy, you should probably tell them. It’s a hard time to be a creative.

I forget who said it a couple days ago, (was it you @roamingthicket.neocities.org?) but since a lot of Internet videogame discourse was shaped by AVGN malding over anything that strayed from the Mario/Zelda blueprints, I'm doing my best to provide an alternative voice to that in a way.

One thing that's important to me though, when playing games of a common genre for research, is not to limit myself to the output of one developer. I *could* just stick with SEGA, there's some great stuff there. But also it's good to play some bad stuff as well; research is research either way.

Y'know, I might actually do SMB2 (Western) on NES as part of my platformer game research binge. Because the only ones I've actually beaten before are the SNES and GBA versions.
