I never did an intro so...

Hi! I'm a software designer based in SF. I've been around the block a few times and you've probably used some of my work at Pinterest, Figma, and most recently Slack.

Right now I spend my time working on @maitsu.co, an app for building habits and hobbies with friends.
I honestly did not think Relink was going to get an expansion—I thought they'd go straight to a sequel—so waking up to this this morning was a big surprise.

This makes me much more bullish on a sequel coming sometime soon too, although it could be farther away.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

This industry is fucked. People tell you to go independent (there ain’t many other options atm) and speaking from experience, the independent route is difficult and labyrinthian to monetize. Detailed work that speaks truth to power often doesn’t get the views/interest of just rambling into a camera.

And let’s not forget about all the journalism students who there’s literally no space for because the market is flooded (worse now).

Jeff Bezos could single-handedly prop up WaPo for generations. If we’re gonna go all in on independent media, there still needs to be money for it.

happening this morning in Minneapolis -- ICE agents drawing guns on observers. I reiterate again that it is only a matter of time before DHS kills more innocent people in Minnesota. Congress needs to shut this shit down right now.

Spent some time installing CachyOS (Arch Linux) yesterday with a friend and while it does work, I definitely get the death by a thousand cuts of Linux.

I could do it, but I don't think finding ways to tweak and improve my desktop is sparking the same joy in me as messing with a server does

we're a society that loves over-consumption, so i don't expect a lot of folks to weigh the benefits of what they're making with the harms that come from the tools they use - this goes for ai as well as resin crafts lmao (i went to an art supply pantry and have never seen so many unused resin trays)

i learned the lesson very early that most people are not creative. but again, ai tools (and non-ai pixel art canvas tools) don't make you creative, they make you create. and a lot of what we all are creating is garbagino

I don’t think I can say this forcefully enough: hundreds of thousands of Haitians will lose status tomorrow with racist ending of their TPS & are spending today refreshing their feeds for a court order that could literally save thier lives.

This is nothing short of psychosocial torture.

Billionaires get a bad rap. But most of them make our lives much better.

The proposed CA Billionaire Tax Act is a tax on unrealized gains and is already driving founders out of the state.

@shauninman.com is one of the few designers I can say I looked up to and had a huge impact on me when I was younger. I picked up a TrimUI Brick for $70 after years of wanting to play with his MinUI project and it’s just as wonderful as I expected.
