Today my daughter's preschool is holding a farewell assembly for one of her classmates whose mother has no choice but to self deport. The school is hoping it will be joyful in tone, so we might make this less upsetting for this 3 year old.

There's just no words for the uselessness of this cruelty.

In May, Trump nominated Ingrassia, who received his law degree in 2022, to head the Office of Special Counsel. After he drew publicity for ties to white supremacist Nick Fuentes and Andrew Tate — an influencer who has been
charged in Britain with rape and human trafficking, which he denies - Ingrassia's July nomination hearing was indefinitely delayed.
It was a rare instance of Senate Republicans pushing back on a Trump nominee.
Ingrassia has shared conspiracy theories about 9/11 and praised far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. A podcast that he co-hosted called for martial law and secession after the 2020 election if legal efforts to overturn the election didn't succeed. He has advocated for some people who rioted at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
On his Substack, Ingrassia, who interned for the first Trump White House, dubs himself
"President Trump's favorite writer" because
Trump shared his comments almost 100 times last year on social media.

I was told not to teach a class on the intellectual histories of Zionism and Anti-Zionism next year - not because they doubted I could teach it fairly, but because it would attract too many politicians scrutinizing the syllabus.

A society where that is a valid fear is no longer fully democratic.

It's not just bribery. He's now using personal litigation, backed by state extortion, to extract "settlements" which he then puts into an account he created to spend on government work, all entirely outside of Congress taxing or appropriating. It's full Charles I illegal taxation and spending.

The Department of Education followed Bondi’s memo with a demand for new admissions data on the racial makeup, standardized-test scores, and GPA of applicants and admitted students for all institutions that receive federal student aid. Justin Driver, a Yale Law professor and the author of The Fall of Affirmative Action, told me that he expects any elite college that doesn’t start enrolling fewer Black students to be accused by the Trump administration of breaking the law.

As a resident of #Portland it is impossible to capture how unhinged this is. We are a low crime city and the ICE protest "siege" consists of one auxiliary ICE office that normally has at most a dozen weirdos debating what performance art they should use to block a single driveway
