Tbf, I’ll watch the new one because of the chance they’ll undo what they did to Cap with the IW mess, but I’m more suspicious than excited.

I don’t consider myself either a moviegoer or a cinephile, really, but I fall hard for *characters* and the MCU both tried to make me care about too many of them, and rewrote them into people I didn’t recognise. Take away what I love from a series, and it makes me sad and uninterested.

I adored the early MCU, to the point I knitted an entire Cap cosplay (including the shield). I loved the anticipation and the teasers. Then Infinity War threw out all the characterisation and made much of Agent Carter never have happened, and I lost interest in it all. (except Bucky).

The Cambridge Latin Course translated “caudex” as “blockhead”. When I later learned about caudal meaning posterior etc, I realised the books had probably been excessively sanitised for pre-teens. “Butthead” (before Beavis was a thing) would have gone down a storm with 12 year olds!
