We competed with Buena Vista in high school, we always called it "Byoonie"... that doesn't look right but I don't think there's a spelling in the world that gets across how it was pronounced.

We have the opposite in Connecticut. The Thames river here is pronounced with a thhh sound instead of the British "Tems"
