Universities exist--as distinct from trade schools--to teach critical thinking and skillful communication (written and oral), which in turn necessitates educating students *broadly* in subjects such as history, human behavior and culture, the arts, as well as math and science. It's a BIG job.

Universities do not exist to produce compliant worker bees--especially in an age where lots of companies think they can replace entry-level jobs with AI.
Not to mention, compliant worker bees are terrible for democracy or producing innovation; they're only good for ensuring the rich get richer.

I just find this whole tiktokification of political discourse so distasteful. It is literally nuanced situation whittled down to a factoid, that isn’t actually true in most situations. And what is with the glass? could just as easily been left there by my granny, it is not a metaphor for bad youthz
