The NGS is cracking at the seems and the pressure is working. It needs to be shut down & an investigation made after years of intrusive sexually inappropriate questioning & behaviour from staff. Yet another reference to the debunked Cass review too from Moran:

Had a nightmare in which I was part of a film crew shooting in a haunted house. In the middle of it, I went on a conversational tangent with one of the other dream-characters about the Indian horror film "Mercury" (Karthik Subbaraj, 2018), which I haven't seen IRL.

Submissions Call: Sci-Fi Ireland
Submissions Deadline: 31st January 2026 Sci-Fi Ireland is a literary magazine. Our mission is to find and publish the best new short science-fiction from the Island of Ireland. To bring sci-fi into the spotlight at a time when philosophy, thought and discussion around science and technology are more important than they’ve ever been. And to provide a literary space in which the sci-fi community of Ireland can connect and have a bit-a-craic.

Telling my mam the news about the story sale, and giving her a rough outline of what the story is about (a riff on demonic pacts, set during Christmas).

Mam: "That's enough."

Me: "lol, okay."

Mam: "And don't go making any yourself."

Me: "...what?"

Random comment about "Your Own Dark Shadow" that annoyed me this morning:

"I was disappointed in it because there was nothing in it from the North, only the 26 counties."

Yeah you plonker, Tyrone and Down are famously located south of the border.

It takes a profound lack of intelligence to think that forcing trans people back into the closet will result in them ceasing to exist, and a stunning lack of imagination to not even consider how a beleaguered (and if transphobes get their way, invisible) minority might strike back.

Just a heads up with all the Christmas markets and fairs on at the moment - if you see art or art-based pieces for sale, ask who the artist is, because the amount of people deceptively slapping "made locally" on pieces locally farted out by their computer and a genAI prompt is getting depressing

An incredible exchange from the found-footage horror flick I'm whiling away the evening with:

" 'Calm down'??? Robot Guy has just been eaten by a creature we can't identify, for Christ's sake!"

"Well, nobody made you come."

(This is not a parody film, btw)

The *honesty* and self-awareness in that statement in contrast to "this is not who we are," is striking.

If you wouldn't be happy to find a wild ape in your garden, you probably wouldn't like to find one of the fae folk either.
