Software cultures are absolutely deprived of compassionate moments where we get to be human together and experience being on the same side together. I really believe that humanness changes people's lives and I'm not giving up on its power. I have seen it measurably work, again and again.

Here is an example of what I mean in a simple illustration, from our New Developer project.

AI Skill Threat is how acutely developers anticipated identity-based and skill-based loss and Contest Culture is how much they rated software as demanding punitive, ruthless competition norms.

Looking for tips and comments!

Some time ago, DRASTIC lab leak activists wrote that Shi Zhengli edited an article on 30 Dec 2019, that they have her IP and MAC addresses, and they could even tell the edits were from a train.

How would this even be possible? ▫️1/4

Former head of trust and safety at Twitter, Yoel Roth, demonstrating the intellectual dishonesty of “In Covid’s Wake” by showing how they distorted his own words to make them say the opposite of what he was arguing.
A small (personal) example of this book’s intellectual dishonesty:

My father-in-law is reading In Covid’s Wake, and excitedly told me he found a passage where I’m quoted. The quote in question is me saying the FBI worked to censor speech on social media.

Huh? When did I say that?!

I worked on my comic for four years before showing it to anyone except a single friend, who I know I tortured by finishing pages months and months apart.

I was slow, the art was janky, and I didn't want to subject anyone to it until there was enough story to chew on.

Give yourself time. It's okay.
I wish there was a way to tell young beginner cartoonists looking for promotional advice that they need to stop putting all their energy into marketing & work on their comic instead without sounding like a total bitch. my love, there is nothing to market

In a former life I was a micro professor. I always told students that vaccines were like fire extinguishers: having one doesn’t mean you won't ever have a fire (infection), but it will decrease the damage caused by the fire (disease). Plus, it can keep the fire from spreading to the neighbor's house

I mean, the thing is, and I keep telling people this, I am SUPER lazy, so why would I learn how to prompt "AI" to write in a non-"AI" way when I can just naturally write in an engaging, human style? I doubt there is ever going to be a point where adding "AI" to the mix isn't just extra work for me.
I just saw a great take on writers using "AI" - people don't like to read something that's clearly written by "AI", so we need to respect that and make sure it seems natural.

So...put as much effort into tricking people into thinking we made an effort as we would into actually writing. Outstanding.

Rights, human rights, are inalienable.

I feel like I read that someplace.

Anyone who would give away rights for one group (say my trans sisters and brothers) for the ‘good of all’ would also give away rights for others if they thought if got them something.

Not one inch.
