While discharge petitions in the United States House of Representatives are not uncommon, it’s rare for them to get the requisite 218 signatures. We’ve now had two in less than a week. Is the House fed up with Speaker Johnson? One can hope.

In so many ways I want this move thing to be done and not hanging over my head for an entire year and more. But there’s so much to do between now and then and I sometimes feel I’m the only one of us actually doing anything, and the move isn’t my idea in the first place. Weird headspace honestly.

instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

Let me see if I have this right. There are just enough Democratic Senator “yes” votes for cloture for the filibuster to be overcome, and none of them are up for reelection next year. All the signs of an engineered capitulation, a way to open the government without appearing to cave (but they did).

Seeing a whole lot of Dem senators rushing to get their heartfelt, “I voted no” posts up. Remember that those 8 yes votes were carefully selected bc they aren’t up for reelection. The caucus picked who would take the fall so the rest could claim to be on our side. I don’t trust any of them rn.
