The GOP is very intentional about calling the depiction of gay people “pornography,” even if there are absolutely no sexual acts depicted. By calling our very existence pornographic, it becomes easier to erase us online and in the law.

TN Republican demands official probe after calling Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show 'gay pornography'
“Depicting gay pornography on prime time has no place in our culture,” Tennessee U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles bizarrely said, after seeing two men dancing and Ricky Martin singing.

I’ve been experimenting with something I am calling “goal-powered role-playing” at my TTRPG tables recently. I wrote a short piece about it and how it works. Feedback is always welcome.

Goal-Powered Role-Playing
Inspired by the excellent book The Game Master’s Handbook of Proactive Roleplaying by Jonah and Tristan Fishel, I’ve been experimenting with a concept I call “goal-power…

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous

Wild. It looks like we have protestors in front of our church today.

It’s been a week since the second release of Epstein files, following the first a few weeks ago. Can anyone remind me how many indictments have been filed since the release? How many new investigations? How many careers gone down in flames? Seems like I should have an easy time remembering…

BREAKING: Trump says he 'didn't make a mistake' with his racist video post.

Q:  "A number of Republicans are calling on you to apologize for that post. Is that something you're going to do?"

Trump: "No, I didn't make a mistake."

He adds later: "I guess it was a take off on the Lion King."

As I’ve mentioned, I’ve been forcing myself to take a 30+ minute walk every day to try to increase my cardiovascular fitness. To my somewhat annoyance, my pace is steadily improving, and what was at the beginning a reliably 35 or more minutes route is barely 30. Need to find new routes, I suppose.

The new Toad the Wet Sprocket album, Rings, is quite nice. All acoustic versions of some of their biggest hits. This version of Good Intentions has a very bluegrass sound to it, and it really works for me. I hope other Toad fans are enjoying it as much as I am!

1. It was not an accident.
2. It was not a staffer.
3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.

“The Republican president’s Thursday night post was deleted Friday and blamed on a staffer after widespread backlash…”

And the terribly racist staffer was fired, right? Right?!?

Trump has posted on Truth Social about 65 times in the last 90 minutes, including a video he posted at 8:44 PM PT describing election fraud lies that shows racist AI images of Michelle and Barack Obama as monkeys at the end. I’ve confirmed this is real and watched it myself.

Everything you’re hearing from the Trump administration is a lie. Today was one of the most active days in Northeast since the entire Operation Metro Surge began.

Nothing is changing on the ground in Minneapolis, no matter what headlines Trump and Homan try to create.

A deaf teen was violently detained by ICE for not “following orders”.

He couldn’t hear their orders.

They denied him an interpreter.

Denied him accommodations.

This is who they are.

They target the disabled because eugenics and fascism go hand in hand.

Loot that drops after defeating me:
- a blue fountain pen full of blue-black ink
- an iPad that accumulates novels faster than can be read
- three full sets of polyhedral dice with several extra sparkly d6s
- a succulent cutting and a rhizome for a Venus fly trap
- a time-tested snickerdoodle recipe
Loot that drops after defeating me:
- embroidery thread and needles
- a bunch of crayons I’ve hoarded after dining with children at restaurants
- a box of medjool dates
- a bottle of my favorite enzyme cleaner
- a recipe for the white chocolate peppermint fudge I make at Christmas time
loot that drops after defeating me:

- drawing tablet pen (I forgot it was in my pocket)
- pink labubu wearing a black hoodie
- pair of platform Chuck Taylor All-Stars (size US women’s 5.5)
- set of Sidetracked character art bookmarks
- crystal of condensed existential dread (it’s your problem now)

So, that was Wonder Man. Enjoyable. But I can’t shake the feeling it was a “one and done” thing, like Moon Knight. It would be an utter shame, though. I still love Trev, and Simon really grew on me. I’d love to see more.

One annoying thing about being a frugal fountain pen enthusiast is how frequently I see a gorgeous pen advertised online only to find out it retails for $400 or more. There’s no way any fountain pen is actually worth that much. Today’s example, the Pilot Capless Link Midnight 2025. $488 to $510?!?
