There will be more of this is the Jets can’t figure out how to play with some speed.
Ottawa works the #NHLJets PK to the point of exhaustion for two full minutes, but can't pull the trigger. It's 0-0 and, from a Senator's perspective, it really shouldn't be.

A recent study concludes that the uninhibited pumping of groundwater by farmers, cities and corporations around the world now accounts for 68% of the total loss of fresh water at the latitudes where most people live.

“Staggering” Water Loss Driven by Groundwater Mining Poses Global Threat
A new study finds that freshwater resources are rapidly disappearing, creating arid “mega” regions and causing sea levels to rise.

Marie-Anne Gaboury is considered by some to be the first female voyageur.
She taught herself to read and write in French and Latin, and studied mathematics in her spare time.
The grandmother of Louis Riel, she became an important figure in the Red River area.

Always a pleasure getting to bemoan the failings of capitalism as it relates to art. Even better when I can do it as a guest on someone else's show (as a i assume people get tired of it on my own lol). But when theatrical experiences are threatened, you know I'll be there to complain about it!

We wring out all the angst surrounding the impeding sale of Warner Bros. and their myriad of assets to Netflix. With Paramount still sniffing around this is far from done but all of it is far from good for fans of movies and TV.

Cory Doctorow talks about how tech companies want to create "reverse centaurs" where the robot does the thinking while the meat sack does the work part. Most people want the opposite, that's why these ads are so weirdly jarring, they're for investors, not people.

I think a lot about this ad I saw in an IMAX theater. Google spent so much money on developing an ad where the premise is “you can use AI to write a mean break up letter about falling in love with someone else.” This is who their target audience is! This is their best idea for how to use their AI

It's really cool that Penn, in his 60s, was able to reflect & change.

It bums me out that his show "Bullshit" has become, along with South Park, the north star for a brand of specific nihilist libertarian millennial white men, a generation raised on "believing in anything is cringe and a scam"
Good on Penn Jillette. Having to come to terms with your entire political identity and philosophy being wrong is not easy and most people could never do it.

This is the first of a five-article series—a deep dive into Albany, GA. With a population of ~67K, it probably mirrors most mid-size cities in the US, including the fact that the local hospital is the most important & powerful business in town. This a story about that hospital. It's a tragic story.
THREAD: It was supposed to be a routine surgery. So when the doctor stepped out, Sandra Parker wasn’t sure she heard right.

Her husband’s heart couldn’t have stopped for more than 5 or 6 minutes, the doctor was saying.

“That’s not a lot of time,” Mrs. Parker thought. “Is it?”
