this had never ocurred to me before this moment but I totally agree with you. that's exactly how they ought to look!
I'm also a bit suspicious of Ibsen, for the same reason--real estate is just such an anti-people-of-Tacoma business these days. But on the other hand, Ibsen's take on issues like public safety and homelessness are more clearly progressive, while Hines seems more focused on trash and potholes

No detention center should exist. Shut Down NWDC! NWDC currently does not have clean water or air, and there are multiple women who are pregnant. Free them all!

I'd bet a dollar that isn't actually knitting, but rather an AI generated pattern messily screenprinted on a fleece fabric that feels like a plastic bag 🙃

Ope this is going off

Ok folks! My Congressman is a MAGA clown who's on multiple ag committees.

As a farmer, I need ag policymakers who tell Trump no.

So for every donation to Kim Hardy, who's running against my
Congressman, I will post one (1) ag fact.

Help Kimberly flip NC-07!
Kimberly is a mom, educator, and social worker running against a MAGA extremist.

I'm sad about it, too. He really was one of those people who quietly grew connections all over the community 💚

Every morning before work, I measure the Queen of the Andes. I’ve nicknamed her Nova because her trunk is a ball of spikes that reminds me of a supernova in slow motion, an explosion of leaves pointin...

have similar/related beliefs. Which is not to say that everyone saying 'christianity is the problem' is wrong--there's certainly something to that--but I do sometimes wonder how much indigenous beliefs have changed N. Am christianity without the mainstream realizing
In Coast Salish tradition ghosts are the remnants of the dead but don't retain any of the individual characteristics of the dead person--they're just like the spiritual shadow of the person, which can bring illness (physical/spiritual) if it falls on you. I know other indigenous N. Am cultures
"you can't get people to participate in other modes of living by just showing them the wound and asking them to feel how much it really hurts" turns out this is true for literally every single catastrophe we're facing right now, who knew
the exposed moral wound of fossil extraction is real and is worth knowing the torn bloody edges of, but you can't get people to participate in other modes of living by just showing them the wound and asking them to feel how much it really hurts.
I almost always bike to the doctor! Annoyingly, I can't right now, because I have a knee injury and I'm supposed to rest it for two weeks but like. There are so many things I go to the doctor for that are compatible with biking! Last time I was in a full hospital it was to visit a friend anyway!

Never forget how many more of us there are than them.

Never forget how much more power we can have, when we act in solidarity and simply take it for ourselves.

They just tear-gassed us. They tried to run us over in a van holding a peaceful protester. They shot us with pepper balls. They dragged another protester into the facility.
moments ago, ice agents again came out of the broadview detention/“professing” facility to escort a silver suv out of the lot.

one of the agents picked up and threw congressional candidate kat abughazaleh to the ground.

1/1🧵 Immigration enforcement report: WA State | July 16-31, 2025
In the last two weeks of July, the WAISN Deportation Defense Hotline received 445 calls from people documenting or verifying immigration activity in their area. Here’s what we’re seeing 👇
I just love the way he talks so dang much. That rising tone on "neighbors" 🤌
I just spoke to NYC Comptroller Brad Lander as he left police custody following his arrest at immigration court. Here’s what he said:

if you're interested in pop culture that actually pushes back against the erosion of freedoms, you'll get more of it from one issue of an SFF zine than you will in a year of every streaming service combined
a canceled streaming subscription is easily converted to several spec fic magazine subs on patreon and similar services, some are as low as 1-2 bucks. the more you know.

It’s natural & correct to love big trees. But it’s NOT natural or correct to love a few big trees in your own nbhd at the expense of housing our neighbors, fighting climate change, saving many more old trees elsewhere, growing the next gen of plants, & building a just city free from car dependence.
