My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.

On the other side was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for his help.
"I wasn't planning on letting her stay, but I didn't know what the hell was going on," the man said of his Venezuelan migrant neighbors. But he quickly relented. The little girl was inconsolable and hid under his bed.
"I didn't want them to take her," said the man, who didn't want to be named because he fears he'll be targeted by federal authorities for his actions.
"I gave her my bedroom, and I just told her,
'Just stay there. Don't open, don't, shh, just stay quiet," he recalled telling the mom and daughter as he choked back tears.

A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.

Years ago, I was a manager at a software company. I was one of the few women, so I got belittled and ignored until I wanted to scream. Also, my dad was a Naval Captain, so I'd been literally cursing like a sailor since I was two. I'm an expert at rage and stress. Never once did I curse at my team.🤷🏻‍♀️

The president says there are very few stores left in Portland, Oregon, and the ones that are left are made of plywood.

Trump: "Portland, I mean -- every time I look at that place it's burning down. There are fires all over the place. When a store -- there are very few of them left -- but when a store owner rebuilds a store they build it out of plywood. They don't put up storefronts anymore. They just put wood up."

I got a fundraising call from a student the other day and, even though I've donated every year, I told him Duke wouldn't get another penny from me until they make it clear they are standing against the current authoritarian regime.

We live in a country where the government honors insurrectionists who sacked the Capitol, and defines peaceful protest, even before it occurs, to be terrorism.

When prices were going up under Biden there was a constant deluge of news stories about it because the media did not like Biden and wanted him to lose. Under Trump there is not a constant deluge of news stories about coffee prices because they like Trump and want him to win

If you rename the Department of Defense the Department of War, then bomb fishing boats in the Caribbean, and shoot an unarmed priest in the head with a pepper bullet, you should automatically be barred from receiving the Nobel Peace Prize for the rest of your life.

Seriously! My reps are the nauseating SC trifecta of Graham, Scott, and Mace, so I HATE calling my reps, but I grit my teeth and do it, since I'm not actually talking to them. Because if I had to talk directly to them, I'd be reduced to just shrieking curse words.🤪
