This is tantalisingly close to £3k.
The news moves on, but the lives of Jamaicans are still very difficult. Every bit helps (shares cost nothing but can be incredibly helpful).

Went to an uncommonly good gig at the weekend. I've been to a lot of gigs, and this is definitely in the running for best ever.

@christt.bsky.social Well that was off-the-charts wonderful! I'm going to be grinning for at least a month.

Going to put this on front of you again. The news moves on, but the problems faced by those living in Jamaica are still there.
I know many of you will already have done something to help the people of Jamaica, but if you felt like helping a specific family, this is the GoFundMe set up by my son’s girlfriend for her relatives, who find themselves in dire straits. Every bit helps, shares appreciated. gofund.me/9b5b74984

Spring in the Weald of Kent by the Kentish artist Rowland Hilder

I love everything about it. The blossom on the trees, the long gone Elm trees, the horse and cart slowly moving through a hedgerow lined lane, the Oasts

This is predictably great.
I taped a Cellar 92 session, had a great time with Intoxicated Pigeon in the basement. Here’s a sweary acoustic performance of ‘Cull’ from London Is Sinking…

People mistake billionaires goal to be accumulating wealth , their goals tend to be around power and legacy. See Musks Mars obsession/his eugenics kids or the using his kids blood guy or the dozen "the singularity will happen and make us immortal" guys. They'll lose money if it means power or legacy
"'They’re spending more money than I would even tax them,' [Mamdani] said in an interview with MSNBC last week."

This is the message. Make it clear that these billionaires aren't just worried about losing money. They're worried about losing the ability to exchange their money for power.

It's brilliant and exciting to see Zohran Mamdani elected.
More leaders like him please, and fewer like Cuomo, Schumer and the rest of the oligarch-pleasing, hope-destroying, election-losing, right-centrist political class.

They’ll insist this is a
one-off victory — something that can only happen in New York & nowhere else.

They’re wrong.

New York is the world financial capital — home of Wall Street & billionaires from across the globe.

If everyday people can defeat oligarchs here, we can defeat oligarchy anywhere.

"Satan's actual bumhole": pretty accurate assessment of current Twitter IMO.
Your gentle reminder not to screenshot the abhorrent tweets of American fascists into my feed, thanks. Actually, I don't need to see anything from Twitter. That's why I left. You should leave, too. You're squatting in Satan's actual bumhole. Get out of there.

Can confirm that this book is a good read at any time of the year.
Me: OK it’s Halloween so I should probably try to find a way to sell a few books, like a sale or something

Also me: well, bats are spooky, aren’t they?

Me: yeeessss…

Also me: and there’s a chapter about bats in Taking Flight?

Me: CLOSE ENOUGH!

Excellent thread and a scary story. Racists clearly feel enabled now.
BBC, Sky, all UK media - you NEED to do better.

This isn’t “balance”.

Iterations of this meme keeps doing the rounds for a reason - it’s because the press keep doing this!

Stop it!

My most popular cartoon by a long chalk is also oddly niche, in that it mostly appeals to a generation who remember the song it refers to and enjoy the nostalgia for their youth. I can draw one for you if you like.

Remember explaining to my kid that commercial radio would remove all the music and just have ads if they thought you’d still listen. It was an advertising medium with necessary breaks for songs.

That’s social media now.

Because until that happens, my trans friends do not feel 'welcome' at all.
