All I can say (and my OH can testify) is that as soon as I start moaning about the sound/lighting/picture quality, we know the storytelling has failed. I've always made a point of leaving that critical viewing behind at work (unless it's really obvious and ruins the show completely).

Giving a lecture on settlement archaeology this week so you KNOW I had to include my favorite archaeological book cover of all time 😂🏺

mutlicamera sitcoms, in front of an audience, have all bit died a death - Mrs Brown's Boys, if it's still going, may be one marmite example...

One of the last I worked on was Kate & Koji - properly written, properly rehearsed, and then _performed_.

Boom mics, too (only really used on EE now, too).

whilst working in tv studios as an engineer, I got heartily sick of 'film look' being applied to the cameras on all sorts of shows (as the thread says, v little drama). Progressive rather than interlaced picture which were then crushed in Post, often with top & bottom crop too. Pretentious shit.
