The world will not snap back to normal after Democrats win an election. How do I know? Because they won in 2020 and the world only continued to go more floridly insane. We need to address the root cause of the insanity, which is the complete epistemological collapse we are living through.

Substack has an antiscience health disinformation problem.

MAD recognizes the importance (& influence) of media ownership – which is why we are sounding warnings about Substack.

Substack has a Nazi problem AND a health disinformation problem
Substack creators and Substack audiences are supporting a platform that profits off of promoting dangerous antiscience content – at the expense of public health.

The proliferation of toddler-crushers is a natural and inevitable consequence of a society, infrastructure, and economy built around cars, and only by removing cars themselves from the median daily transport experience will we stop the bloodbath.

Nov 25 2025 @rikiwilchins.bsky.social -- At least four federal judges have now blocked portions of or the entirety of invasive DOJ subpoenas served on 20 health providers of gender-affirming medical care for trans minors.
Multiple judges call out DOJ's methods of defending its invasive trans care subpoenas
A trio of public rulings, including one on Friday, all side with providers. Two rulings also raised sharp questions about DOJ's moves in recent months.

"I love the lower class so much that I think they should stay low"

This is the modern version of right-wing anticapitalism, in the vein of Carlyle. Pro-hierarchy, anti-modernist. Combating worker alienation by doubling down on tradition and reducing social mobility. It's like classical fascism.

Because the Liberal Currents writers have actual values, they are, almost uniquely among media, able to react our fascist moment not by asking “What if all our beliefs are wrong? What if we went too far with all the democracy and fairness stuff?” but by asking “How do we beat the fascists again?”

do you have any idea how much you have to piss somebody off to make them change their gauge
#Finland will begin to #Russia - proof its rail network, integrate with EU train infrastructure.

The Finnish government has announced the conversion of its rail network from Russian gauge (1,524 mm) to European standard (1,435 mm).

A mother and her 15 year old autistic son are reunited after nearly 50 days apart.

Emmanuel Garcia went missing, and rather than check missing person’s reports, Houston PD called ICE.

ICE sent him to the Office of Refugee Resettlement and his mom has been fighting to get him back ever since.

The problem with AI having no brightline definition between LLMs/GenAI and like, machine learning algorithms that have been refined for decades, is we get takes like this with such little material technical detail that it functions as debating the merits of a fantasy.
Problem: AI needs massive amounts of power to thrive. Nuclear makes lots of power. Nuclear takes a long long time to do safely.

Proposed solution that I'm sure will have no unpleasant consequences: Use AI to speed up the construction of new nuclear plants.
Power Companies Are Using AI To Build Nuclear Power Plants
Tech companies are betting big on nuclear energy to meet AIs massive power demands and they're using that AI to speed up the construction of new nuclear power plants.

The more important thing is that Mamdani is not the type of politician that Liz Cheney would want to campaign for. It was bad that Harris campaigned with her, it is even worse that she was someone Liz Cheney wanted to campaign for

Was talking the other day with someone about my belief that it feels like culture froze in the 80s/90s is that the kids that time had no choice but to watch whatever was on HBO, so every ‘classic’ film from that era was something I’ve seen a dozen times.
It's the reason why we have all these 75 year old actors who are the star of an action franchise still .

I don't understand why people devalue the appearance of unification. The average American doesn't want to hire a fuckup who promises them everything they want and more but can't deliver because they're bickering with their coworkers.
Obama feebly tried to stage an open convention. That would have been much, much better.

It was never clear to me why Democrats rallied around Harris so immediately, except for some weird notion on appearing unified.

I love how half the TV interviews involving the Trump administration are basically just Fox folks chatting with their old colleagues.
Duffy: "Trump talks about the golden age of transportation. But the golden age in transportation truly begins with you ... People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly ... so we want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season: Help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"

I think this is probably a good strategic move if Mamdani wants stuff to get passed by Albany, but I also think it's funny that the people who would agree on that would also lose their shit if they saw this centrist triangulation being done by anyone else

Like seriously coming out of this month and being like "Schumer is toxic to our brand" - you need to do more legwork against the null hypothesis that the party of Schumer delivered a nationwide bloodbath of conservative losses
I don't think Chuck Schumer is a significant factor in us plausibly winning Texas.

What is even the point of this? Schumer isn't up until '28
