That feeling when you’re about to get out of your car at work but someone you barely know pulls in next to you and you KNOW you’ll have to do the awkward “how’s your weekend” talk on the way in so you post on Bluesky to look busy instead oh phew they’re gone bye now

I wrote my first two novels in long co-working sessions at super cool coffeehouses with amazing friends. HOLLOW CROWN got done at 3:45 in the morning. This one is getting done in the car at lunch and kiddo lessons because Covid this summer destroyed my endurance.

Just keep swimming.

It is almost impossible to write a book a year while working as a family breadwinner and being a present parent. If this is your situation, you are not failing. The world wants you to think you are so you buy things. Just keep swimming.
