Disabled people are part of the future.
We must and should imagine and dream of futures where disabled people don't just exist but are everywhere, as we should be.

I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."

I have made every effort to remove phrases like “that’s crazy” “she’s nuts” etc
Bc there are far more descriptive words in the English language and AAVE to keep harming a marginalized community
(I usually go with “that’s ass” or ”what an asshole”, gender neutral and visual)

"Lunatic" is actually one of my sore spots. "Psycho" & "batshit" are pretty sore too. Those are particularly violent. I see "crazy" & "insane" so much I usually have to give it a pass. It all bothers me. It's sanist language for your info, classes the mad as subhuman so we can be brutalized.

And restitution for all the VICTIMS. Releasing everyone who's been kidnapped & illegally detained. Prosecution of not just the murderers, but everyone involved from the ICE agents grabbing people off the street or guarding the bathrooms in the concentration camps up to the heads of ICE, CBP, & DHS.
Ending this operation is not enough.
We need justice and accountability. That starts with independent investigations into the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, economic restitution for businesses impacted, abolishing ICE, and the impeachment of Kristi Noem.

This is what I can do as a bedbound, immunocompromised person stuck in my surburban bedroom in this midst of this end-stage capitalism hellscape.
Part of what I do as social justice bard is to reply to posts requiring some education, like letting people know the POW-MIA flag is racist in origin.
Another part is seeing what the Black and brown folks I follow are calling out so I can go have a chat with my fellow white people behaving badly.

It is not a coincidence that the Minnesota occupation is “ending” right before the Senate is due to vote on funding for ICE.

Sadly, they can say the "surge" is over and still conduct their horrific raids because a "surge" means an increased amount of boots on the ground. The boots are already there, and enough of them that they could send agents home and still have enough of them left to terrrorize people.
I am hopeful the surge is over but I I will believe it when kids are back at school, folks can go to work without getting abducted and people don't have to drive around with their passport and green card.
