This is called “chain refoulment” and it’s illegal under both U.S. and international law. And the State Department and ICE know very well what Ghana is doing and simply don’t care.
ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.

A reminder that gas-powered leafblowers are nightmare devices that are bad for you, bad for your lawn, and very bad for the environment. They fume and scream and kill the world all so you can messily and ineffectively move leaves around, leaves which are generally supposed to stay where they fell.

Medicaid pays for cabs to my medical appointments, so I take a lot of cabs. That's a major part of how I got interested in Sikhism - conversations with a Khalsa who took me to appointments a few times.

Karl is quoting a piece on San Antonio, but I also read that Rep Lauren Underwood, who's been seeking access to view the facility outside Chicago for months only just gained access yesterday, reported on bad conditions, & no detainees or officers were present bc they were replacing security cameras.

Unless you've taken a statistics course, no one knows what a confidence interval is, or how sample size matters, or what the various biases are in any given study.
And even if we were to create a resource explaining it, it would still be confusing for most people who've never understood science.

Tell your doctors the pulse oximeter racism problem is an issue of concern for you. Even if you're white, tell them. The issue is known, but we need to lend it urgency.

#NEISVoid #MedSky this issue needs to be on everyone's lips until we have a solution in place. A lot of PoC died during early COVID because oxygen wasn't being given out without low pulse oximeter readings + they have trouble with dark skin. The issue continues to this day.
That reminds me, I need to talk to my doctors about the pulse ox issue again. They're much better than most, but it's something that needs reinforcing.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.
The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.
