After taking art breaks I find that the best way for me to get back into things is....to turn my brain off and to see what happens. 90% of the time it's nonsense but sometimes something cool comes out of it. Not sure which this one is 🤷‍♀️

Not entirely sure how to describe this to be honest. It's a mostly blue forest with a hard red/white backlight using a paint brush texture that I like in procreate. There is a creature of some sort standing before the light, obscuring most of its features beyond it's glowing eyes and mouth. Between you and the creature are oddly shaped trees

Now onto the totally legit documentary Van Helsing (2004) as a treat for finishing Dracula

It's been so long since I've watched this and it's going to be so funny to watch now given Dr. Helsing was just a prof who was a big folklore nerd. He was just a lil guy turned vamp warrior BEAST

A picture I found after a quick google search. From the middle left shows Van Helsing holding up his cross bow looking confused(?). From middle to the right is the picture used for the box art for Van Helsing 2004 featuring Hugh Jackman as Van Helsing and Kate Beckinsale as Anna Valerious (can't believe they didn't name her Mina because this totally would be her; kicking ass minus the 1890's mindset towards women)

Final Update:
Just finished the book! And omg Mina really is the mvp. The story had me worried for a minute there

But it's been a great ride! Having only know the pop culture version of Dracula it's been so interesting actually reading where it all began. It's been totally worth it

But also too when the guys are dealing with a certain vamp (do spoilers count for a 120+ yr old story?) she's called "voluptuous" a few times and is clearly just super sexy. Like, no wonder pop culture has taken the sex appeal idea and ran with it instead of "ooo scary monster" like in folk stories

Mina's really come back into the story now and I'm just loving how she's going around getting things done. Out of everyone's reactions to vampires she's very much "well here's the problem, lets deal with it." Loving that for her

A bit late to the game but I just stumbled across Clement Greenberg's definition of kitch as "art that is cheap, commercialized and associated with mass-production."

I think I might just start calling anything AI as computer-kitch to help me get out of the habit of calling it "Ai art/images"

Here’s a statement that might be radical in 2025: ‘bad art’ is still art, not content or slop. “But what about AI?” What about it? It demands that we interrogate the definition of art itself, and therefore here is mine: art is a practice, not a product.

Art is not something we consume. Art is something we do.

Artificially-generated ‘art’ does not fall beyond the purview of our definition of art because it lacks aesthetic merit. It has nothing to do with aesthetics. AI ‘art’ is not art because it is not something that the ‘artist’ has done.

In Ontario Canada:
Ocarina of Time released in 1998 at $60 before dropping to about $40
Minimum wage then:
$9.95 (can't find sales tax then) so 40/9.95 = 4.02 hours worked to afford game
Minimum wage now:
$17.80 for a $100+tax= $113. 113/17.80 = 6.3 hours worked to afford the game

"Interrupts" meaning...you could be vibing doing your cleaning or whatever and the music you're listening to will stop so you can play a game to see if you're watching?
At least radio has the decency of putting the ads around the music 🙄
